Financial Analyst

FTI is seeking an experienced individual to support its Business Operations Management function in our Chesapeake, VA location. The successful candidate will report to the Senior Finance Analyst with assigned duties and responsibilities to include business operations management, revenue, financial & variance analysis, cost control processes, billing, and month-end closing. The successful candidate will work closely with Business Unit Leads & Program Managers to maintain monthly reporting of all program costs.

Monitor expenditures; analyze variances, and perform trend analysis; works with Senior Finance Analyst to initiate corrective actions in conjunction with corporate FP&A.
Provide program support by preparing and analyzing baseline budgets, spend plans, budget vs. actual reports, estimates to complete (ETCs) and estimates at complete (EACs).
Assist Project Directors and Project Managers in projecting future requirements, planning staffing requirements.
Analyze actuals, historical data, learning curves and other project cost data. Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
Assists with Business Unit projections and forecasts for revenue, earnings, and profitability
Maintain good internal controls and policies based on contract requirements, accounting/financial standards with regards to project accounting
Assist Senior Finance Analyst and Corporate FP&A to identify process improvement opportunities and implementation, including, but not limited to, program-level budget development/analysis, resource allocation, automation of corporate financial reporting, etc.
Review discrepancies between booked and billed revenue; work with Senior Finance Analyst, program teams and Corporate Accounting to initiate corrective action
Work closely with cross functional teams and departments to develop close working relationships that foster the sharing of best practices to maintain governance/compliance
Provide assistance in program internal and external reporting requirements, other contractually obligated financial reports, and ad-hoc reports as applicable
Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university in related field
Successful experience working with operations to improve performance, margins, costs
Must have 3-5 years of Finacial experieince with 1-2 years xperience in the Government/DoD supporting government cotracts in a financial capacity
Experience with P&L responsibility in dynamic forecasting environments and FAR/DFAR compliance prefered
Successful experience working with operations to improve performance, margins, costs
Advanced skills with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly including advanced Excel functions; experience with financial modeling using Excel models.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
