Job Title: LVN Nurse
General summary of duties: The LVN Nurse, under the supervision of the Office Manager, is responsible for assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care management.
Position reports to: Office Supervisor or Manager for nonmedical subjects; the Nurse will receive supervision from the physicians, advanced nurse Practitioners or physician assistants.
General Purpose of Position:
To provide high quality reception and secretarial services to the patients, doctors, and staff in a caring and supportive manner.
To maintain confidentiality of all information.
To provide flexibility in practice staffing arrangements
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
In accordance with policies & procedures:
Answer the telephone in a courteous and professional manner within 3 rings
Receive and convey messages in writing, verbally and electronically
Consult with patients and their families in a compassionate manner
Consult with GPs, other health professionals and their staff
Make appointments
Bill patients and receipt moneys
Undertake Banking procedures
Proficiency in Windows operating system
Able to operate electronic medical record management with employer provided training.
Understanding of medical terminology
Fax documents
Scan documents
File documents
Prepare documents for mail-out
Open, stamp appropriately and distribute incoming mail
Type documents as required with an elevated level of accuracy
Sterilize equipment with appropriate training
Clean consulting rooms in between sessions
Transport sterilization to appropriate destinations
Maintain accurate log of specimens for external pickup
Place orders for stationery and/or clinical supplies as directed OR Monitor
Stationery and/or clinical supply levels and place orders as required maintaining a working supply at all times.
Book and organize staff and/or doctors’ meetings as directed
Participate in ongoing professional development activities
Contribute equitably to maintaining the cleanliness of the practice
Maintain practice dress standards
Any other administrative duties as directed by Practice Manager
Knowledge of medical practice and care
Knowledge of examination, diagnostic and treatment room procedures
Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions
Ability to assist in a variety of common office procedures
Ability to take vital signs
Skill in developing and maintaining clinical quality assurance
Skill in identifying and resolving problems
Ability to maintain records and record test results
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
Ability to use good reasoning and judgment and react calmly in emergency situations
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, coworkers, and the public
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively orally and in writing
Knowledge of basic arithmetic
Proficiency in the operation of a computer keyboard
Physical abilities:
Stand for extended periods of time; push, pull and reach; occasionally bend, sit, stoop, and stretch
Have full range of body motion, including handling and lifting of patients
Have the hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity needed to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and medical equipment (e.g., EKG machine, glucometer)
Have a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports; specific vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus
Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Authority
The areas of authority the staff member is required or allowed to exercise are:
Use judgment in conveying information to relevant authorities
Operate within the organization’s policies and procedures and within the scope of the staff member’s professional expertise
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Memberships
Current LVN license issue by the State of Texas.
Professional Training Certificates.
Current motor vehicle license.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 per week
