Duties
Summary
This position is located Budget Execution Division, Financial Management Directorate, Washington Headquarters Services (WHS). The Budget Execution Division is responsible for executing the programs and budgets of the Office of the Secretary of Defense, WHS, U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and Defense Legal Services Agency. The Division also certifies funds availability and performs budget execution review functions to effectively manage the allocated budgets.

Your typical work assignments may include the following:
Analyzes financial and budgetary relationships to development recommendations for financial and/or budgetary submissions
Conduct financial management evaluations of DoD-wide or corporate level issues to support management decision-making
Perform general cost analysis to support cost-benefit analysis
Supports the development and submission of the POM in order to ensure linkage with the budget
Tracks commitments, obligations and expenditures in accordance with set benchmarks
Travel Required

Qualifications

Who May Apply: Positions are open to:
Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. Short-term training programs (e.g. several two-week programs completed) are not considered an academic course of study.

You may qualify at the level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement:

Three years of general experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4 grade level in the Federal service that demonstrates your ability analyzing discrepancies between financial systems and funding authorities, commitments, obligations and disbursements; knowledge of accounting and budget procedures related to appropriation controls, transfer of funds, reimbursement of expenditures, refunds of administrative expenses, discounts, and handling of partial funds.

OR

A four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree level education which demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. Education must have been completed in an U.S. college, university, or other educational institution that has been accredited by one of the accrediting agencies or associations recognized by the Secretary, U.S. Department of Education. Transcripts are required at the time of application.

OR
A combination of specialized experience as described above and education as described above. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. Transcripts are required at the time of application.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
