This individual is assigned to complete unskilled maintenance functions in the building and physical plant of the Bishop Gadsden community according to the established standards and within the assigned areas of responsibility. This position is considered to be entry level, and also serves as apprentice for Maintenance Technician Level II, providing general help as required.
Complete general maintenance functions including but not limited to:
General plumbing tasks such as changing out faucets, mixing valves, plunging a toilet, replacing a wax ring, rebuilding a toilet, clearing drains.
General electrical tasks such as lock out/tag out, bulb replacement, ballast replacement, fixture change out, fuse replacement, light switch/outlet replacement.
Change bulbs, HVAC filters, and batteries.
Hang pictures, blinds, hardware.
Assemble furniture and move furniture.
Communicate availability and completion of assigned duties to supervisor and/or departmental administrative support in an effective and efficient manner.
Trap and neutralize wildlife as necessary.
Assist in general maintenance duties as needed and directed.
BISHOP GADSDEN RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assume accountability for department and facility policies and procedures and assume accountability for information contained in the current employee handbook.
Adhere to established facility and departmental safety policies and procedures.
Participate in facility fire drill procedures.
Perform all responsibilities with adherence to Resident’s Rights and HIPAA.
Maintain professional appearance and conduct exhibiting a respectful and courteous demeanor at all times.
Adhere to the Bishop Gadsden dress code policy and guidelines.
Participate in educational and departmental opportunities.
Attend mandatory continuing education sessions.
Attend department meetings and/or educational opportunities as required.
Attend facility functions and demonstrate interest in Bishop Gadsden activities.
Show evidence of working as a team member.
Adhere to attendance and scheduling requirements.
Accept additional duties as necessary in a cooperative manner.
Observe fiscal responsibility in use of Bishop Gadsden resources and purchases made on behalf of Bishop Gadsden.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and written.
Ability to read and comprehend numbers and written material.
Ability to work on a ladder.
Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and Bishop Gadsden employees.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent, preferred.
General experience in building maintenance required.
Valid SC drivers’ license.
