40%: Deploy CI Management System across sites / functions:
Establish common language, guidelines, and standards for the Lean Management System and its elements
Visual Management System
Problem Solving methodology driven to reduce variation and defect
Leader Standard Work
Scorecards and KPIs
Coach continuous improvement mindsets and behaviors across the organization, including Senior Leadership
Deliver the initial training and facilitate Shire’s methodology for continuous improvement (Blue Belt Training) in collaboration with Operational and Business Excellence
Develop own capabilities in Continuous Improvement to “mastery”
Identify and develop local functional champions to drive continuous improvement through all levels of the organization
Visit other sites to learn, share, and replicate good practices.
Be a “new pair of eyes”; provide feedback and receive feedback
Support and assist other CI champions for the sites and functions in their CI journey
Create learning organization and collaborate with site functions in support of the CI journey
10%: Site Master Plan:
Create Site Master Plan based on the site’s business needs in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team
Lead the deployment of the Site Master Plan and be a Change Agent
Establish lighthouses for replication across sites / functions
Education & Experience Requirements
BS in Science or Engineering discipline required, 5-8 years of experience. Advanced degree preferred. Thorough knowledge of Operational Excellence (Lean / Six Sigma) along with representative trainings and certifications (Black/green belt) preferred. Prior experience in a continuous improvement role is preferred. Experience in global biotech / pharmaceutical manufacturing is preferred.
Essential: Respected locally as a change agent; be able to influence the organization across all levels and the network. A track record of taking concepts and implementing locally to deliver valuable outcomes for the business. Strong communication skills, able to adapt communication styles to audience, able to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
Desired: A natural leader, comfortable networking and connecting people. Background in continuous improvement methodology is a plus (Yellow Belt, Green Belt, Black Belt)
The position requires a combination of sedentary work and walking around observing conditions in the facility.
Must be able to wear special personal protective equipment required in cold environments and areas that require special gowning
Must be able to sit for prolonged period of time
Some walking across the facility between various management areas is necessary, including use of stairs.
