Solder Rework Technician
1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION’S FUNCTION AND PURPOSE
Reporting to the General Manager or on-site Supervisor, this role is an electronic support maintenance role. This role will perform daily duties at a Yamaichi facility or at an assigned customer site. This is a day shift position.
The Solder Rework Technician rework, build, calibrate and test electrical systems and components. The Solder Rework Technical will remove and replace soldered components, down to the component level. They will also construct electro/mechanical testing devices requiring specific wiring configurations. Measuring and diagnostic tools will be used to test, modify and validate functionality and ensure the systems/components meet established specifications. Daily progress reports and pass downs to other stake holders may be required.
The ideal candidate will have 2-5 years’ experience in Solder Reworking in an assembly/manufacturing environment.
2. SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- SOLDERING – must be able to solder electrical components.
- REWORK/REBUILD – performs necessary parts replacements to equipment as defined by Yamaichi or customer. Parts replacement include: electronic components, such as sockets, resistors, capacitors, and connectors.
- TESTING/CALIBRATION – follows documented procedures to test and calibrate equipment to ensure it is functioning within the specifications. Ensures all equipment meets or exceeds specifications prior to releasing equipment back into use.
- PROCEDURES/PROCESSES – performs duties based on documented specifications and processes. Escalates need for documentation or revisions to documentation if required.
- DOCUMENTATION/COMMUNICATION – using PC, provides daily reports (or more frequent) on status of equipment. Ensures all primary stakeholders are updated and provides pass down communication to other team members as required. Escalates quality excursions to appropriate personnel.
- PARTS ORDERING – ensure parts needed to perform PM and Reworks are ordered and available in a timely manner. If parts are not available, then escalation to senior personnel is required.
- SAFETY – must follow/comply with all Yamaichi and (if applicable) all customer safety policies.
3. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS REQUIRED BY THE JOB
- Must be solder certified to IPC 7711/7721 or equivalent.
- Good hand to eye coordination with the ability to work with hand-tools (screw drivers, pliers, tweezers, soldering irons, microscope, etc.).
- Ability to read and follow written instructions, PCB schematics and Assembly Drawings.
- Ability to ask questions for uncertain objectives, tasks, and/or priorities.
- Basic PC skills with knowledge of EXCEL.
7. QUALIFICATIONS - MINIMUM REQUIRED
- IPC Certifications J-STD-001 and IPC7711/7721 or equilvalent.
- Education: Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associates Degree is a plus.
- Experience: 2-5 years in a manufacturing/assembly position
- Communication Must be fluent in English for speaking, reading and writing.
8. ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
