Job Summary :
The person hired for the position of Senior Inpatient Consultant will have a passion for imparting their knowledge and expertise in clinical documentation improvement to both their customers and their internal team members as well as providing innovative solutions to solve customers’ business opportunities. The person hired will be involved in clinical content development, validation and application of software modules relating to coding and training. The ideal candidate will be expected to work directly and/or collaborate with the coding and clinical team members and external clients. This candidate will also assist in supporting the Consulting service team presenting underlying clinical and coding concepts to various hospitals and/or organizations as internal staff.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Assist Consulting Services in obtaining set revenue goals
Leads auditing tasks of medical record coding, documentation, compliance and DRG assignment
Lead remote WebEx education training for clients on coding, documentation, compliance and working with related 3M products and consulting service delivery, as well as specialty programs related to individual areas of expertise for client and staff
Assist with content update and revision of internal and external training material
Assist with maintenance of clinical and coding content for training manual and development of new content
Support innovation for consulting services in the creation of new services
Willingness to participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards.
Demonstrate knowledge of DRG payer issues, documentation opportunities, and clinical documentation requirements
Conduct accurate and timely record review
Review medical records for completeness and accuracy for severity of illness and risk of mortality.
Adhere to all coding and clinical documentation improvement guidelines
Conduct clinical documentation tasks, meeting productivity and quality standards as set for each project

Basic Qualifications:
Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
RHIA, RHIT with CCS certification and minimum of five (5) years of clinical coding experience, or a Valid RN License with minimum of five (5) years acute care experience
Minimum of three (3) years of healthcare management experience
Ability to travel up to 75% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in HIM, Nursing, or other healthcare clinical background
Recognized CDI credential from ACDIS (CCDS) or AHIMA (CDIP).
2 years in an advanced CDI role preferred
Proficient Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office programs
Excellent verbal, written, presentation, analytical and organizational skills
Ability to solve problems in a logical, methodical, and time efficient manner
Analytical skills related to independently interpreting, preparing and analyzing data
Demonstrated ability to effect change through team structures and achieve measurable outcomes
Proven ability to maintain superior customer and employee relations in a fast-paced environment
Experience with telecommuting, working with EMRs and other electronic tools
Ability to work with multiple and diverse clients and projects
Attention to detail, highly organized, with an absolute focus on quality of work
Deep understanding of clinical documentation, medical record coding, healthcare billing and revenue cycle management
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Proven ability to work independently and produce excellent results
Knowledgeable in 3M HIS software portfolio (360 Encompass)
Location: Atlanta, GA
