Job Title: Dean of Students

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Academics

Position Summary: The Dean of Students will collaborate with directors, teachers, advisors and parents to ensure that all students are successful at IMG Academy. This involves thinking critically about ways to solve disciplinary issues, including academic and non-academic issues, in order to ensure that students are getting the support they need to maintain high levels of performance.

Responsibilities
Position Responsibilities

Create a campus culture of community which attracts and retains student-athletes
Supervise Academic Affairs Managers and support their role as the primary liaisons between their student-athletes and the key stakeholders (sport, coaches, teachers, parents, residential mentors, APD staff, etc.)
Support and regularly check in with students and parents regarding academic, behavioral and social issues
Ensure that students and parents receive effective feedback on educational development
Collaborate with student-athlete advisors to inform prospective student-athletes of academic expectations at IMGA
With Director of Campus Life, facilitate campus-wide substance use and abuse programming including extra- and co-curricular awareness activities and student development activities
Be a resource for teachers, coaches, advisors and student services regarding student-athlete achievement, attendance, behavior and campus life
With Director of Campus Life, interpret, explain and apply student government and code of conduct rules with applicable laws, codes and regulatory policies and procedures
Oversee and collaborate on programs to promote positive student behavior and intervention strategies
Confer and collaborate on appropriate consequences for behavior, including sport suspension and disciplinary action
Support Campus Safety Manager and Health & Safety Coordinator in the review and execution of emergency planning and response programs
Collaborate with student-athlete advisors to assess students’ academic & sport performance
Collaborate with Student Services and student-athlete advisors on issues/concerns about student-athletes
Serve on the disciplinary committee and address student academic and behavior concerns
Communicate with students and parents on school policies, academic and behavior concerns
Ensure accurate student discipline and attendance records are maintained
Represent the Academy, as required, at professional or public meetings
Oversees student attendance office
Adheres to all company policies, procedures and business ethic codes
Review and develop graduation paths for students
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Ability

Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology or related field
Experience in educational administration, student services or teaching
Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse, academic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of Academy students, parents and employees
Organization and management practices related to the analysis and evaluation of programs, policies and operational needs
Ability to communicate with externally and internally
High level of creativity
Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple projects
Excellent presentation skills with the ability to interface with a variety of audiences
Ability to multi task in a fast-paced organization
A superior work ethic
Desire to work collaboratively with colleagues
Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Skills

Master’s degree in Education, Psychology or related field
Spanish or Cantonese fluency
Experience playing, coaching or administering sports programs

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Ability to lift, move, push and pull equipment or boxes in excess of 40 pounds
Should be able to handle outdoor temperatures for a reasonable period of time
Must be able to move around campus which includes gym, turf, fields, etc.
Ability to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends and holidays is required
