The Northwest School is a college-preparatory, co-educational independent school near the heart of downtown Seattle. We offer a rich and challenging program to roughly 500 students in grades 6 through 12, including 80 international students, many of whom live in our campus dormitory. The Admissions Assistant works full time for 9 months of the year supporting the efforts of domestic and international admissions. This position works 75% of a full year and receives full school benefits during the 3 months off.

Essential functions include:
Support and coordinate all aspects of Admissions events on campus and off campus including open houses, tours, receptions, and information sessions.

Process admissions applications, ensure admissions files are complete, and follow up with families and faculty as needed.

Maintain the applicant database for students in the admissions process.

Respond to inquiries about The Northwest School Admissions in an accurate, professional and timely manner by telephone, email and in person; respond to web admission inquiries.

Prepare and send mailings to potential applicants and families.

Provide general administrative support to the Admissions office.

Marginal Functions:
Serve as the first point of contact for the building that houses the domestic and international admissions offices.

Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the school’s mission, values, and philosophy, especially related to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and environmental sustainability.

An Associate's Degree and three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job is required.

Expert user of Microsoft Office, Outlook, especially calendaring functions.

Experience using Senior Systems, Ravenna Admin, or similar educational databases is preferred.

A successful candidate will have experience in event planning and logistics, be proficient at managing multiple priorities with strong attention to detail and have excellent customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree and experience working in an educational setting are preferred.

Experience working in an admissions office.

Proficiency speaking a language other than English.

Cross cultural work experience, particularly with ELL students and their parents.
