Job overview and responsibilities

This position is responsible for overseeing the Baggage portfolio and ensuring that all priorities are adequately reflected and tracked. The Portfolio Manager manages the future demand, defines sequencing and dependencies, works with resource teams to determine availability and adjust priorities accordingly. SPM also ensures that the programs, projects and products within the portfolio are being properly managed, placed and prioritized. Builds and maintains the project portfolio and develops metrics to help guide the director, managers, and team leads in making project team assignments and commitments.

Delivery/Support: Baggage Infrastructure Projects

Accountable for gaining and maintaining alignment of delivery success criteria with business partners
Accountable for effective project management and delivery of work requests and projects within committed budget, schedule and quality for individual projects while also meeting overall department performance goals
Ability to manage up to 5M in budget
Ability to manage up to 5 Business Partners
Accountable for identifying needs, securing commitments and monitoring progress of deliverables from internal and external service provider teams
Provide cost estimates and business case updates
Responsible for communication of progress to senior IT and Business leadership
Decision making responsibility within the discipline and escalates any issues which cannot be resolved to the Director – Baggage Portfolio
Tasked with understanding all the operating policies and procedures of the enterprise
Portfolio Management: IT Portfolio/Process Mgmt. and Administrative

Manage across projects in the portfolio to ensure alignment and consistency with the domain strategy and drive efficient utilization of project management resources on projects.
Ensure that projects are effectively initiated, actively managed, and stakeholders are highly engaged and informed.
Drive to improve financial estimation/forecast accuracy and resource forecast accuracy while minimizing excess capacity and optimizing project and resource planning.
Partner with the Portfolio Lead on all aspects of financial planning and tracking.
Ensure IT application development process disciplines (solution delivery, project management, work requests, QA, etc.) and standards are established, effectively managed and performed.
Provide information and periodic updates to support weekly accomplishment, monthly project status reporting and quarterly resource planning review.
Lead resource identification and onboarding.
Monitor budgets and operational effectiveness; develops strategies for adjusted courses of action.
Ensures projects/programs are completed within the committed time and budget and are integrated with other software applications
Establish as a single point of contact within the Baggage portfolio for PMLC process and financials
Support the Airport Operations’ Portfolio Lead to roll out new process/tools.
Support portfolio activities – collating weekly accomplishments, owning the baggage portfolio status updates etc.
Develop strategic connections and cross-functional partnerships to advance aligned portfolio/project management best practices and ensure continuous improvement in project delivery.

Responsible for developing and maintaining an overall sourcing plan which includes creative sourcing options and alternatives to ensure supply capacities meet work demand, role and skill set requirements and cost objectives

Responsible for department and individual performance assessments and improvement plans.
Responsible for coaching, counseling, assisting employees to develop individual career development and training plans.
This Sr. Manager is accountable for maximizing the productivity of the applications staff and the maintainability of software systems, keeps abreast of new technologies, incorporates those technologies when appropriate and motivates others to utilize them
Relationship Management with Field Support including creating monthly Ops report to Hubs


Bachelor’s Degree
5+ years project/program financial management
5+ years of IT and business/industry work experience
At least 3 years of leadership experience in managing multiple, large, cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders
Requires advanced technical and business knowledge in software development life cycle, quality assurance, project management and other related disciplines/processes
Experience operating in an agile context. Must understand Agile processes and terminology and have worked in an Agile environment.
Must have a technology background
Demonstrated outstanding oral and written communications and interpersonal skills
Strong prioritization skills- demonstrate that can break down projects for priority & prioritize across projects
Relationship Management skills and strong organizational skills
Experience with Microsoft Office, SharePoint and MS Project
