Responsibilities:
The Director of Patient Care Services (DPCS) is responsible for the overall direction of home health clinical services. The Director of Patient Care Services establishes, implements, and evaluates goals and objectives for home health services that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total agency and philosophy.

Coordinates and oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical agency personnel.

Assists Clinical Managers in managing clinical teams and planning.

Coordinates and assists the interdisciplinary team in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. Leads case conferences with the interdisciplinary team.

Assists the Executive Director/Administrator in the administration of the agency's budget.

Interprets operational indicators to detect census changes and increases or decreases in volume that could impact staffing levels, revenues, or expenses.

Evaluates performance of Clinical Managers.

Assists Clinical Managers to develop skills and techniques in evaluating the performance of clinicians.

Participates in the hiring and ongoing evaluation of agency personnel.

Oversees the maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports, and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of agency activities.

Oversees supply management, including office inventory and supplies related to the provision of patient care.

Responsible for orientation of new agency personnel, directly or delegate.

Plans and implements in-service and continuing education programs to meet education and training needs of agency personnel.

Assists with the evaluation of agency performance through the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Program to assure delivery of high-quality home health services.

Assures compliance with all local, state, and federal laws regarding licensure and certification of agency personnel and maintains compliance to the ACHC Home Care standards and company policies and procedures.

Promotes home health referrals in the health care community.

Participates in the administrative on-call rotation.

In the absence of the Executive Director/Administrator, the Director of Patient Care Services will become the acting Executive Director/Administrator and will be vested with authority to act on behalf of the Executive Director/Administrator.

In the absence of a clinical manager, the Director of Patient Care Services will serve as the clinical manager for the purposes of meeting the Medicare Conditions of Participation. When serving as the clinical manger, the Director of Patient Care Services will be available at all times during the operating hours and will provide oversight of all patient care services and personnel, including making patient and personnel assignments, coordinating patient care, coordinating referral, assuring patient needs are continually assessed, and assuring the development, implementation, and updates of the individualized plan of care.

Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/Administrator.

Must adhere to the company attendance and reliability guidelines, which are an essential function of the job to ensure quality, and consistent patient care.
Qualifications:
- Registered nurse in the State with current licensure to practice professional nursing in the working state.

Registered nurse with a baccalaureate or higher degree in nursing or other health related field with three years of experience within the last five years in a home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility, at least one year of which was a supervisory or administrative capacity; or a registered nurse with four years experience within the last five years in a home health agency, primary care clinic or health facility, at least one year of which was in a supervisory or administrative capacity. (California Code Regulations, Title 22, § 74703)

Demonstrates autonomy, agency, assertiveness, flexibility, and cooperation in performing job responsibilities.

HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) experience preferred.

Maintains current state driver’s license and auto insurance.

Maintains current CPR certification.
