The National Basketball Association is seeking an experienced insights and business intelligence professional to join the Analytics and Data Science team in Customer Data Strategy (CDS) in New York. S/he should have 8+ years of practical experience developing analyses and capabilities that provide actionable insights and enable partners to make more informed business decisions.
You will lead a team of analysts and manage an evolving suite of business-critical dashboards and reports to deliver value for internal departments.
Establish, lead and manage internal forums to share regular actionable insights with constituents
Work across departments to grow the internal usage of reports and dashboards; ensure relevance of tracked critical metrics for Senior Leadership and other key constituents
Coordinate multiple partner requests and project activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting and analysis deliverables
Identify additional business questions that new NBA reporting should answer and partner internally to source data to meet requirements
Work with and oversee multiple data sources while integrating advanced data sets into SQL, Cloud and Tableau environments
Work with technical partners to automate data flows and reduce reliance on manual data staging
Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated through the establishment of insights functions and business intelligence projects; includes data visualization, verbal communication and PowerPoint presentations
Experience working directly with internal business clients to figure out needs and partner with technical contacts to ensure the data is properly sourced, transformed, automated and visualized
Proven ability to tell a story through data that influences key business decisions and leads to action
Advanced to expert skills in developing dashboards or front-end visualizations using Tableau (minimum 3 years); This includes deep experience with advanced Tableau topics like complex table calculations, level of detail calculations, the use of parameters in dashboards, geographic mapping and data source performance optimization
Experience building relationships and collaborating across a cross-functional group of business and functional areas
Demonstrated Project Management skills along with experience working through ambiguity to deliver to project deadlines
A minimum of 8 years of practical business intelligence and data science experience, preferably in the entertainment or ad tech industries
Experience working with ad tech and digital clickstream analytics tools such and Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics; Detailed knowledge of Digital Tag Management systems a plus
Exemplary data visualization skills. Experience with Tableau a plus
Expert-level SQL coding
Experience with R Studio a plus
Educational Background Required:
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree, or a degree in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline
