Summary Installs countertops in homes, apartments, or commercial facilities by using hand and powered tools. Trains Apprentices and Helpers the trade of Installation techniques such as cutting, polishing, mitering granite while in the field. This would include processes leaving the facility for day installs, completing installs and end of day.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Operates Company 16’ foot box truck to Install sites. Delivers countertops from vehicle to installation location usually on foot and by carrying the items to be installed. Most times, the countertops are carried using buddy lift process, carts, or hand grips.
The countertops usually must be manipulated to get them into proper location for installation. Seams are applied when required to ensure proper fit. Back splashes are sometimes cut to final size on site by using power saws.
Minor repairs to countertop finish, if required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities. However, the Lead is responsible in training and managing the Apprentice Installer. This includes communicating/feedback to Install Manager on progress during program.

Education and/or Experience
A high school diploma is strongly desired but not a requirement. Three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. We install in new construction and customer’s homes.
Pre-Employment Qualifications
Will need to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT Certification (Sims-Lohman will provide examination if candidate does not have one), valid driver license, successfully complete badging process that includes a background check in order to enter a customer’s home for Sims Lohman, Lowes, Home Depot, Consentino & LG Hausys.
