Postdoctoral Fellowship: Biologics Drug Product Development & Manufacturing

Sanofi - Framingham, MA

Discover your future…

Sanofi R&D works with passion to understand and solve some of the world’s most difficult biomedical problems facing patients and their healthcare providers. One of our assets in this quest are Post Doctoral Fellows, who bring an energy and desire to share our passion.

Sanofi’s Post Doctoral Fellowships offer a comprehensive training program that provides participants with the opportunity to advance their scientific careers in a leading-edge environment while contributing to Sanofi’s effort to bring next generation (transformative) solutions to patient’s most urgent medical needs.

A great opportunity for an aspiring candidate in the field of drug delivery and formulation and process development to be a part of multi-disciplinary team within the Biologics Drug Product Development group at Sanofi (one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in the world). The candidate will work on the multidisciplinary topic of designing appropriate formulations for non-viral gene delivery, and will have the opportunity to interact with various experts (e.g. formulations, bioanalytics, molecular biology) across the Sanofi network. The candidate will have the opportunity to present at scientific forums both internally and externally, and publish novel findings from the studies. The current position is contracted for a period of 24 months with competitive pay and benefits. It also provides for a great opportunity that can be converted into a full-time position at the end of the tenure, subject to the performance of the candidate.

The selected candidate will be responsible for drug product development of non-viral gene delivery using lipid nano particles (LNPs). As part of this overall goal, the candidate would be required to:

Design, develop and execute studies to formulate targeted and non-targeted LNPs for delivery of different nucleic acid modalities
Perform biophysical and in-vitro characterization of LNPs to understand the mechanism of action and stability of LNPs under different stress conditions
Publish at least two (2) scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals
Should be self-motivated and able to work closely and independently with counterparts within the team and from other functional areas in a collaborative manner
Generate, document and compile data for team and senior management discussions, development reports and regulatory filings

Basic Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Science, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry or a related discipline
All candidates must have authorization to work in the United States throughout the duration of the Fellowship. No visa sponsorship will be provided

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferably with a thesis or academic/ industrial experience on the topic of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) drug delivery
Expertise in nanoparticle or LNP design and formulation
Extensive knowledge and understating of the LNP formulation process
Experimental knowledge and skills in bioanalytical characterization
Experience with different analytical techniques such as but not limited to Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Fluorescence spectroscopy, Differential Scanning Calorimeter (DSC), Absorption Spectroscopy, Circular Dichroism (CD), High Pressure Liquid chromatography (HPLC), SDS-PAGE
Expertise in handling mammalian cell culture and executing different in-vitro cell based assays. Knowledge and capability of executing in-vivo studies is a plus
Basic understanding of statistical data analysis with good oral and written communication skills for scientific presentations and manuscript writing
