MITRE Lab’s Emerging Engineering and Physical Sciences Department is seeking a senior engineer with expertise in fuel cell technologies to work in a dynamic analytical environment focused on solving our customers energy resilience challenges. This department serves as a vanguard for MITRE to meet the future needs of our customers, requiring technical excellence while encouraging creativity and fostering interests in current and emerging technologies across its diverse membership. Job Responsibilities (Required):
Responsibilities include:

Lead and contribute to fuel cell test and evaluation, modeling and analysis, and field experimentation for either fixed or mobile systems/facilities.

Identification of fuel cell integration and/or deployment challenges through analytical, experimental, or model-based assessment.

Assess, identify, and propose remediation actions for energy risks, threats, and vulnerabilities.
-
Frame and communicate technology performance and cost.
-
Collaborate with transdisciplinary experts from across MITRE, our customers, and partners, providing subject matter expertise in fuel cell technologies and associated technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a U.S. government security investigation and must be able to obtain a Department of Defense SECRET clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship.
Required Qualifications (Required)

BS and 5 years of relevant experience in one of the following fields: Chemical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or a related Energy/Power Engineering Systems degree.

Deep technical expertise in one or more fuel cell technologies, their safe operation, and the model-based evaluation of their performance.

Strong technical writing and oral presentation skills.

The ability to conduct research and development of new technologies to meet customer requirements in a collaborative environment with both internal and external researchers.

The ability to think critically and be proactive in pursuing research and problem-solving with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications (Optional):

MS or PhD in one of the following fields: Chemical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and/or a related Energy/Power Engineering Systems degree.

Extensive experience and expertise, including recent publications, in the design, test and evaluation, and integration challenges of fuel cells for either fixed or mobile applications.

Basic understanding of a broad range of energy technologies and their use.

Experience with integration of fuel cells into mobile platforms AND/OR use on fixed sites.
