Summary :
Cleans and services assigned building areas; moves furniture, equipment, hospital waste, and supplies in and around assigned areas. Works to ensure that the Hospital is clean and safe for patients, visitors and other employees.
Must be able to ensure the proper segregation, collection, transportation and disposal of infectious, biohazard and pharmaceutical waste. Transports and collects waste and recyclables to appropriate storage areas per state and federal regulations. Must fulfill any training obligations pertaining to state and federal guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Dustmops, mops, buffs, strips, and waxes floors. Runs buffers, wet vacuums, and automatic floor scrubber.
- Vacuums and shampoos carpets and upholstery. Runs vacuums and carpet.
- Extractor and spotter.
- Washes walls, windows, light fixtures, and vents, as assigned.
- Must be able to work with germicidal and other cleaning detergents.
- Changes cubicle and window curtains, as needed.
- Moves furniture as required.
- Gathers trash and dirty linens, as needed or assigned.
- Does Courier runs to downtown vendors or to outlying towns.
- Sets up Conference Rooms for meetings, as needed.
- Must be able and willing to clean isolation rooms according to established guidelines, as needed.
- Must be able to follow established safety methods and procedures as outlined in organizational and department policies.
- Must possess knowledge of cleaning techniques for each type of floor surface.
- Must possess the ability to work independently and maintain productivity.
- Must comprehend the policies and regulations of each waste, its storage, and transport.
- If working in this the waste role as a full-time assignment, must follow regular schedules for pickups.
- If working in this the waste role as a full-time assignment, must order supplies as needed to ensure waste containers are on hand.
- Must be able to maintain proper storage of all noted waste per regulation as well as assure all areas are kept clean and free of any items not permissible of these areas per state and federal regulation.
- Must take or have forklift training to be able load waste trucks and receive waste container shipments.
Other Information :
- Must have an insurable driver's license and provide a copy to HR yearly.
- Must be able to work alternating weekends, holidays, or assist in another department as needed, ie, laundry, food service, assist maintenance.
