UI/UX Web & Mobile Designer
Kitchen Brains….Who we are
In 1969, Ben Koether founded Food Automation Service Techniques with the goal of helping restaurants overcome operational challenges. Our first product, the FASTRON cooking computer, had a simple single goal: serving the perfect french fry. Over the years, our products have evolved into smart devices controlling complex processes and application software for monitoring food safety and managing energy costs. Today, we operate a world-class manufacturing operation, designing and producing the latest electronic control devices. We have expanded our product portfolio with application software that brings the Internet of Things (IoT) to foodservice operations. In 2013, we rebranded our company to Kitchen Brains to better reflect the breath of our product portfolio and our mission to help restaurants “Put a Genius on the Menu.”
Now 50 years later, Kitchen Brains remains true to its roots, globally helping restaurants deliver hot, fresh, available food. Our leading-edge timing and control devices are deployed individually and in unison. Today, they integrate wirelessly across all equipment, powered by SaaS apps solely built for the Smart Commercial Kitchen®. Labor, training, and operational costs are lowered, while the highest standards for food safety and product quality are met. Management has seamless accessibility to Key Performance Indicators, with cloud-based dashboards and control from anywhere.
Core Expectations for the Position:
The Kitchen Brains Genius Suite is a rapidly growing platform operating in the commercial food industry. Although we’ve had lots of success for over a decade with large customers, we still operate and think like a startup. As such, we’re looking for a UI/UX Designer with an entrepreneurial mindset to turn our software into easy-to-use and beautiful products for our clients.
You will be among the first design hires. As such, we will lean on your expertise and guidance as we brand our products with cohesive design. We will need you to jump right in, get to know the team, get a feel for our products, and deliver world class work. This position will have plenty of room for upward growth.
UI/UX Designer responsibilities include gathering user requirements, designing graphic elements and building navigation components. To be successful in this role, you should have experience with design software and wireframe tools.
To help us evaluate your talent, we would like to see your portfolio of professional design projects that includes work with web/mobile applications. A good sense of branding is essential.
Excellent communication and organization skills, ability to manage ambiguity and take initiative, and previous experience working in a startup environment will help your candidacy. Ultimately, you’ll create both functional and appealing features that address our clients’ needs and help us grow our customer base.
UI/UX Designer will work closely with Product Management, Software Engineering and Sales & Marketing to produce creative materials and interfacing materials to represent our brand. UI/UX Designer may also interface with the end customer when necessary to understand the UI/UX requirements. This position reports to Cloud & Mobile Product Management.
