The Church Impact Liaison works as part of The Samaritan Women’s Regional Impact Team (RIT). The objective of this position is to inspire and educate Christian churches to engage in the work of Modern Day Abolition and to fuel the Church to be a relevant and reckoning force against modern day slavery. This position is specifically responsible for managing The Samaritan Women’s Church Impact Program, a coordinated set of activities for responding to domestic human trafficking within that congregation’s sphere of influence. The Church Impact Program specifically equips and engages churches to provide advocacy, volunteer, in-kind donations, and programmatic and financial support to The Samaritan Women.


15% Enrollment. Identify congregations within the greater DMV area, introduce congregations to The Samaritan Women’s Church Impact Program, and endeavor to solidify the congregation’s engagement and support.

55% Relationship Management. Serve as relationship manager between Church Partners and The Samaritan Women. Ensure open and frequent communications. Develop education or event “toolkits” to help churches promote awareness or raise funds in support of The Samaritan Women’s efforts. Attend Church Partner events. Seek feedback to evaluate and refine the Church Impact Program to be responsive to the state of the issue, denominational differences, age and ethnic groups, and the needs of the worshipping communities. The Samaritan Women’s goal is that faith-based entities account for 30% of our annual funding. Serve as an Ambassador for The Samaritan Women by public speaking, writing, media relations, and event support.

10% Information. Stay abreast of resources, media, news, and events in the anti-trafficking arena and promote those resources, as appropriate, to our Church Partners. Recognize the work of our Church Partners in an effort to inspire other churches to engage in the work.

5% Discipleship. Support The Samaritan Women’s spiritual care of staff and residents with periodic teaching and discipleship.

15% Communications. Collaborate with The Samaritan Women’s communications team to convey the stories of hope and healing from our ministry out to the faith community. Submit articles to denominational publications and/or national Christian media outlets on the work of The Samaritan Women and our Church Partners. Prepare a year-end summary of activities and outcomes, to be incorporated into The Samaritan Women’s Annual Report. Prepare annual stewardship reports for each Church Partner. Support The Samaritan Women’s goal of national presence by public speaking/writing at a national level.

1st Year Performance Goals

  • Become a The Samaritan Women-certified speaker on domestic sex trafficking and the Gospel imperative to engage in the work of abolition
  • Become the main point of contact with all prior and current Church Partners; inspire them about our their role in Abolition; secure their volunteering and financial commitment for 2019
  • Identify up to 10 congregations to pursue for partnership
  • Identify performance metrics for assessing church impact on The Samaritan Women and on the work of abolition
  • Become well-versed in The Samaritan Women Care model and programming calendar to anticipate needs
  • Identify national Christian outlets for The Samaritan Women’s visibility; pitch stories and speaking

Essential Skills and Experience:

The ideal candidate must possess the following:

  • Be passionate about the Church (ecumenical) as the light of the world
  • Have exceptional skills in relationship management and communications
  • Be a compelling story-teller and public speaker
  • Treat all with dignity and respect and be able to work with diverse members of the community
  • Ability to establish systems of organization and contact management
  • Be familiar with the functions of Microsoft Suite; be prepared to learn basic functions of a donor database
  • Be familiar with the major denominations of the Christian faith and able to engage respectfully with each
  • Strong organizational skills, requiring little supervision
  • Comfortable working independently or in collaborative teams
  • Adept at using a wide range of media and communication tools to tell a compelling story
  • Candidates for this position do not need to be versed in the issue of domestic human trafficking. We will teach you! A successful candidate is willing and eager to learn


  • This position is full-time, based on 40 hours/week.
  • Travel expenses outside of regular work commute to TSW may be submitted for reimbursement.

  • No supplemental employee benefits are being offered at this time.
