My client is a mid-size, family owned business growing rapidly with cutting edge patented technology. They design, assemble, and manufacture patented disruptive upstream and downstream smart devices for HVAC Building Technologies with all-inclusive controls. The primary job function of the Director of Engineering is to manage the Engineering, Product development group and Innovation Center.

The Engineering Director will play a key role in the organization. They are looking for someone who has vision, technical creativity, strong leadership skills and an engineering background to help manage the patented product lines, Innovation Lab and create innovative new products that reflect what our customers want, as well as ensuring technologies represent the cutting edge of our industry. You will manage a team of engineers with input from their CTO who is a former MIT professor of Acoustical physics. Our product portfolio includes PATENTED intelligent upstream/downstream devices with integrated controls. We have several joint ventures with large conglomerates to distribute our technology globally as part of their digital infrastructure platform.

Position requirements and responsibilities:

· Director of Engineering is responsible for staffing and leading our technical team and staff of engineers on product development, design and engineering which includes 2 PHD'S.

· As Director Engineering, you will also oversee the Product Development cycles as well as manage the team that does product revisions and the team that works on electrical controls

· Responsible for overseeing a new "state of the art" innovation center , Acoustics lab, visualization room and other demo rooms.

· Background in mechanical engineering with work experience in a similar type of HVAC manufacturing environment; controls, filtration, ventilation, hydronics, air side, etc.

· An understanding of both electrical controls, water flow, refrigeration and air-flow is ideal

· Strong leadership and management skills

· An understanding of electrical components and/or controls is desirable

· The ability to grow with the company as our market share increases globally - 2019 is a big growth year for the company- Company is growing at 2 x per year.

· Hands on mentoring of engineers

· Ability to meet all deadlines

· Understanding of Bill Of Materials

· Ensure assigned project goals and objectives are achieved while following established development procedures

· Investigate, propose and manage new product development efforts or product updates

· Interface with other departments and management to communicate status of projects.

· Review technical reports and recommend modifications or adjustments in order to meet specifications

· Assess equipment requirements to achieve objectives and facilitate budgetary planning

· Create and release Product Requirement Documents for assigned product ideas.

· Responsible for forming cross-functional teams responsible for the overall management of development projects

· Manage the creation of all risk analysis documents

· Manage the creation of all product spec sheets, owner’s manuals, assembly instructions and updating these documents based on product revision/updates

Desired skills and experience:

· Bachelor and/or Engineering Degree in a relevant technical discipline. Masters a Plus.

· 10 years of HVAC Mechanical Engineering experience

Experience with acoustics is a Plus

· Experience as a Product Development Manager or similar role

· Experience with UL and ETL is a plus.

· Should be up to date on Industry codes and standards

· Strong project management and organizational skills.

· Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to drive results.

· Strong business communication skills with the ability to work in a team-based setting.

· Strong analytical skills.

· Demonstrated ability to lead and manage a team.

· Strong computer skills (MS word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet).

This is a full time position with a total comp potentially in the $90K - $150K range to start based on background and experience. It also includes a full benefits package with paid time off, profit sharing and healthcare.
