Job overview and responsibilities

Develop and manage one or more multi-phase large redevelopment programs ($100M +) at major airport. Lead Program Management Team and consultants and contractors to deliver according to program objectives as well as communicate and collaborate within United Business Units, including United’s Executive Team.

Work closely within United’s Corporate Real Estate Department as well as other Business Units within United such as Finance, Facilities Maintenance, Operations, Marketing, Environmental
Develop full program scope and lead execution and delivery of the program to meet the overall needs of the business in accordance with corporate policies, standards, governing regulations and requirements
Collaborate with internal leadership, airport authorities and other airport staff to ensure the program interests are accounted for and United’s overall program vision is achieved
Develop options, approach, delivery method, program management plan, execution plan and maintain overall responsibility for cost, schedule and scope delivery in accordance with PMLC (Project Management Lifecycle) practices and procedures (based off PMBoK)
Manage risk and issues that pose challenges to the success of the program towards predictable execution
Use technical knowledge experience to provide thoughtful decision making and guidance in strategic implementation of Program’s objectives
Establish and maintain strong business relationships with airport leaders and United Internal Customers
Develop project strategy and approach during Envision and develop multiple alternatives to achieve Project Objectives
Responsible for the delivery and portfolio management of scope, cost and schedules
Manages the programming, planning, design, construction, schedule and budget related issues that pose challenges to the success of the project by drawing on knowledge and experience
Accountable for the compliance with budget, schedule and scope of the projects
Responsible for the use of Project Database, PM Artifacts, workflows, forms, Project Management Guidelines
Uses of Project tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Project, Oracle and others as defined by need
Ensures that projects meet defined metrics
Manager transparent, accurate, consistent project communication and reporting (weekly, monthly and quarterly) of portfolio of projects
Effectively lead teams by establishing teams and individual goals that align with departmental goals Oversee direct reports’ and self’s individual performance and improvement plans
Coach, counsel and assist employees to develop individual career development and training plans
Use technical knowledge experience to provide thoughtful decision making and guidance in strategic implementation of United’s approved projects
Create and sustain a culture of continuous improvement and innovation


Bachelor's Degree
Minimum 5 years' experience developing and managing large redevelopment programs at major airports
Proven communication, negotiation and team management skills
Leadership skills leading teams of leaders and design and construction professionals
Aviation Planning, Design and Construction experience
Thorough understanding of airport facilities and operations including aircraft gating and passenger flow and processing
Understanding of facility asset life-cycle cost and management as it relates into new construction program development and business case justification
Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills
Proven track record of successfully delivering major construction programs within operating airport environment
History of establishing and maintaining strong business relationships with internal and external customers
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Architecture, Engineering or Construction Management
Master’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business, Construction Management and Aviation Management
PMP accredited.
Experience managing large redevelopment of terminal and concourse programs at major airports as owner or owner’s representative ($100M-$500M in size)
Must have experience developing and managing large redevelopment programs at major airports
Established network of aviation professionals within the aviation planning, design and construction industry
