Trauma Surgical Physician Assistant Opening – Vassar Brothers Medical Center (now part of Nuvance Health), Poughkeepsie, NY
The Health Quest Medical Practice (HQMP) Division of Surgical Physician Assistants is seeking a board-certified full-time Trauma Surgical Physician Assistant to join its team at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
OR First Assisting- Surgical PA Services first assist in the OR for trauma and general surgical cases
Rounding- Surgical PA Services will round on post op patients
Comfortable with (or eager to learn) critical care procedures and running traumas
Consults/Admissions- Surgical PA Services will do admissions and consults
Occasional outpatient work when needed
Day position with willingness to rotate nights/weekends or night position is also available
Flexible schedule – 12- or 24-hour shifts

VBMC is a 365-bed facility that has served New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley since 1887. Overlooking the beautiful Hudson River in the city of Poughkeepsie, NY, VBMC has established centers of excellence in cardiac services, cancer care and women and children’s health services. This is an extraordinary time for VBMC with new ACGME-accredited residency programs and planning is underway for the Marist-Nuvance Health Medical School. Additionally, construction is underway for a new state-of-the-art patient pavilion which features all private rooms, opening this Spring.

The qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program and be NCCPA certified as well as possess strong surgical and patient management experience.
Candidates with at least one to three years of surgical experience and/or surgical residency trained candidates preferred, but new graduates will be considered with surgical rotation experience.
ATLS Certification preferred
