Job Description:

The Application Lead / Solution Architect role interfaces with the business and IT to translate business requirements into pragmatic and functional application and technology solutions. The candidate must have strong communication skills, full lifecycle development experience as well as excellent skills in designing and architecting robust yet pragmatic solutions. In addition, the candidate must have experience in managing other technical resources. Prior experience working in a Manage Services environment preferred. In the context of a project the role partners closely with the Program/Project Manager to ensure requirements are clearly understood and translated into necessary application and technology components that meet the business need. The role is responsible for ensuring that their solutions meet both the functional and non-functional requirements outlined for the applicable project or enhancement. The role will be an active member of the AXIS Enterprise Architecture Community and will ensure their solutions are aligned to AXIS’s Enterprise Architecture standards and guidelines. Corporate supports a diverse range of business areas (e.g. Actuarial, Risk, Finance, HR, Audit, Marketing / Corporate Communications, Internal / External Website, RPA Robotics etc.) and exposure this role to a range of SDLC models, COTS applications and integration. The role will have a domain centric alignment and report the ADM Segment Lead for that domain.

RESPONSIBLITIES: * Partner closely with Segment IT Business Architects and business partners in the creation of practical and effective solutions for business needs which encompass people, process and technology * Responsible for the creation of the technology portion of these solutions to include application architecture, high level designs and initial estimates. Responsible for creation of sustainable solutions that optimize the long term total cost of ownership and which can be operated and maintained within the Managed Services model. * Integral member of project teams accountable to the project / program manager(s) for the delivery of application architecture and design deliverables. * Partners with the development lead and project manager to structure the work streams and project plan for delivery of the solution * Responsible for ensuring solutions adhere to and further the Enterprise Architectural standards and principles including those for Infrastructure Architecture and Information Risk Management. Acts as a champion for reuse of assets in the creation of solutions. * Understand implications of architecture requirements to 'As-Is' architectures and define/update 'To-Be' architectures applying AXIS Enterprise Architecture guiding principles. * Foster operational excellence * Actively participate as a member of the AXIS Enterprise Architecture community * May lead/manage solution development efforts originating from portfolios, participate in IT initiatives and provide active guidance for better planning and decision making. * Support implementation of solutions by analyzing current system environments and infrastructures, and develop implementation plan and verification procedures and ensure their execution to deliver successful installation of systems hardware/software. * Engage and direct development resources whether contractors, vendors or those from managed services in project / enhancement scope as required * Engage as the IT ‘subject matter expert’ for developed applications, integrations and implemented COTS applications partnering with the business * Engage in routine / major enhancements to the corporate application portfolio * Engage in application onboard activities to maintenance and support * Engage when needed in maintenance and support activities being performed, as well as routine analysis and evaluation on resource requirements necessary to maintain and/or expand service level.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate will possess the following: * At least 7 years of experience in IT Management (software development, project management and service support) * At least 3 years of experience in business & process analysis methodology * Very strong problem-solving and analytical skills * Deep business domain expertise in the domain(s) they support * Strong architectural and design skills * Knowledge of industry frameworks and methodologies, such as COSO, ITIL, CMMi, CobiT, resp. Lean, Six Sigma, Deming principles, Kaizen, TQM * Experience working with executive management, business subject matter expert & IT staff * Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal * Strong interpersonal relationship, team-building, collaboration & facilitation skills * Personal time management skills and ability to meet individual and team deadlines * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required * Development experience with .NET Entity Framework, MSBI, Tableau, ESB technologies preferred

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $65.00 to $70.00 /hour
