Full Job Description
The YMCA of South Florida is looking to hire a Healthy Living Specialist. The Healthy Living Specialist is responsible for ensuring that all members who visit the wellness area are engaged with the YMCA. This position is the first line of communications in the Healthy Living arena with all members and is responsible for the overall daily effectiveness of the area. This position is also utilized to allow new Personal Trainers the opportunity to build their book of business.
Prime responsibility is to engage and connect with members, as well as being welcomed to the center.
Must be able to sell recommended solutions (Personal Training/ Group Training) to clients based on the results of their Healthy Living Orientations (HLO’s) and their specific health and fitness goals.
Maintains professional knowledge of health and fitness education and trends to provided effective and up to date information/ exercise prescription to members.
Through interaction with current members, generate additional HLO appointments to advise and sell personal training programs and packages.
Remain knowledgeable on options available, including price points, for all personal training and small group signature packages/services.
Follows Wellness Foundation Service Standards in addition to:
Meet and greet every Member
Timely and attentive nature to all member concerns.
Learn Member’s names and use them
Ask Members if they are meeting goals, and respond with appropriate referral
Provide exemplary service equally to all Members and staff.
Interact and answer questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
Assist Members during sign-in of group classes and member orientation appointments.
Consistently complete assignments professionally and on time.
Assist with the record keeping and data entry of member information.
Calls new joins welcome calls for scheduling healthy living orientation. Minimum 5 calls per week.
Maintain the quality of information being submitted and utilized in Daxko.
Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment throughout the wellness floor.
Ensure proper floor facility counts are reported appropriately.
Other duties, as assigned.
Required professional certifications: CPR/AED, First Aid.
1-2 years related fitness experience preferred.
Must possess strong communication skills and computer skills, is preferred
Minimum 2-3 years of customer service, sales experience is preferred.
Knowledge of the principles related to the improvement of overall fitness levels
Additional Required Certificates and Licenses:
OSHA Training for hazardous materials within 90 days of hire
New Employee Orientation
Additional Recommended YMCA certifications to be completed within 90 days of hire.
