The Commercial Partnerships team is looking for a Dolby Vision HDR Systems Architect to work deeply and along-side the largest media companies in the world, that partner with Dolby in scaling VOD and Live Dolby Vision HDR services to hundreds of millions of consumers around the globe. As the lead System Architect in this area, you will serve as the market facing technical lead and direct liaison between the US Dolby Commercial Partnerships team and the largest Streaming, Pay TV and Broadcast networks defining this market and are expanding their businesses to capture, create and deliver Movies, Episodic and Live content in Dolby Vision HDR.

You will be managing multiple projects with different workflows, anticipating and preventing potential problems and leveraging your own skills and internal resources to deliver the ideal architecture to our partners. The ideal candidate will have experience and deep technical knowledge of broadcast video workflows (Live and File) and trends, as well as end to end architecture and integration level experience of video technologies (HEVC/H.265) for encoding and decoding in Pay TV and Streaming delivery, to every screen type.

Essential Job Functions:
Provide detailed integration support and deep technical knowledge to the customer base for the Dolby Vision enabled ecosystems across Pay TV, TV Networks and Streaming partners. Workflow problems will require in-depth evaluation of many elements including mezzanine, encoding, packaging, decoding, networking and production.

You will interact with various groups within Dolby to resolve technical challenges and resolution on behalf of Dolby Vision HDR enabled ecosystems. Projects will require specialized technical knowledge with Dolby encoding and media processing products and SDKs, as well as other technologies in the ecosystem it touches.

Take the lead in providing customer feedback on Dolby Vision HDR, broadening the knowledge base through understanding technical trends and objectives. Work with Product and Technology groups within Dolby, to resolve partner issues and improve Dolby tools and deliverables. Help define and improve integration and testing processes.

Become a technical expert in specific areas related to Dolby technologies, address in-depth technical issues and help provide training to others. Contribute to the recruitment, training and development of the technical staff.

Understand our partners requirements, deliver technical presentations, technology demonstrations, and promote the value proposition of technologies to many stakeholders across our partners organizations. Be the technical lead for sales-orientated technical presentations and demonstrations to customers, technical staff and senior management.

Interface with Dolby product management and engineering to provide input and suggestions for new products and features, based on customer needs and competitive information. Leverage partner meetings to gather insight into trends in scaled media processing and workflow architectures for VOD and Live and their product requirements of Dolby and share that data with relevant internal Dolby teams.

Interact with partners and new prospects as needed to conduct the business of technology licensing using a diplomatic, professional and service-oriented approach, including written correspondence and face-to-face meetings.

Attend trade shows, seminars, conferences, and educational events to keep abreast of industry developments, promote and demonstrate Dolby technologies and examine the potential of new markets for Dolby technologies.

Partner and interact with various groups within Dolby, be the voice of our partners, resolving technical challenges and delivering a resolution on behalf of Dolby enabled ecosystems. Projects will require specialized technical knowledge of Dolby Vision encoding and media processing SDK’s, color grading, and encoding tools as well as other technologies in the ecosystem that Dolby Vision HDR relies on to be enabled.

BSEE or similar (Physics, Engineering Technology, Mathematics, Computer Science, etc.) and 4 years of experience in professional imaging, Broadcast, OTT Streaming and post production or related fields.
It is vital that applicant can quickly and thoroughly learn a variety of technical topics in a short time.
5-7 years (or more) of direct experience in Applications Engineering and/or other technical customer support.
5-7 years’ experience coding in C and/or C++. Expertise with one or more scripting languages (PERL, Python, BASH, etc.) is expected.
Experience with video codecs and compression standards such as H.264, H.265 and HEVC. Knowledge of common video analysis tools, HDMI and video perceptual quality testing. Experience with HDR video is a major plus.
Experience working with HLS,MPEG2 TS, CENC and CMAF, Play Ready, MPEG-DASH, MP4. IMF containers and ASF
Technical skills and working knowledge of Streaming, Broadcast and head end technologies and architectures, media processing and video workflow technologies and architectures used in the delivering content through the entire distribution chain used in scaled Streaming and Pay TV markets.
Experience must include exposure to Digital Signal Processing and at least three of the following areas:
QC workflows
Software development
System engineering and integration
Technology licensing
Imaging Color Science
Video Post-Production Tools and workflow, i.e. color grading, MXF, IMF
Imaging and digital video post-production technologies
Testing professional electronic products
Image quality assessment

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, team building skills, plus strong work and business ethics.

Self-motivated, self-assured person with aptitude to interface with personnel from highest to lowest levels of customer engineering organizations

Position will require 25% to 40% domestic travel.

Exposure to Perforce or Git, Jira and Salesforce
Experience with Python, Perl, and Bash.
Expert knowledge of video technologies, cinema and television production and post-production workflows.
Knowledge of Dolby's products, technologies and customers.
