Human Resources Generalist - Benefits
The HR Generalist is responsible for various HR duties including but not limited to Benefits, Payroll, and Compliance.
The position reports to the Vice President, CFO and regularly interacts with vendors, customers and employees at all levels.
The ideal candidate will be looking for a diverse HR role with an emphasis on Benefits, Payroll, and Compliance. This role provides the opportunity to be a self-starter and take the lead to make the HR team more effective and efficient. A balance of support and autonomy allows for growth and the ability to lead projects and improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities require a specific focus on proven process and procedure in order to:
Take the lead with benefits and payroll tasks – administering benefits, processing payroll, and taking initiative for benefit projects, implementations and process improvements
Work to facilitate and manage the sales commission plans
Work to maintain HR compliance related items: DOT, VETS, EEO, etc.
Assist with expanding HRIS utilization and effectiveness
Track safety and safety training metrics
Accurately respond to employee’s questions and requests
Assist with workers compensation/automobile accident claims
Maintain personnel, confidential and DOT files – keeping files current
Be an active member of the Risk Management team
Assist in coordination and implementation of Open Enrollment
Maintain active DOT Physicals, MVR checks and employment authorizations
Other duties as assigned
Education and experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related degree;
Previous experience in an HR department with a focus on benefits preferred;
Experience with HR compliance items preferred;
Skills and abilities________________________
Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel
Working knowledge of ADP software or capacity for quick learning
Effective, professional communication written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
Excellent administrative skills
Discretion to handle confidential, sensitive employee information
Comfortable handling difficult conversations tactfully and professionally
