Position Summary:
The Program Manager for the Policy and Political Affairs Division reports directly to the Senior Vice President of Policy. The Program Manager is responsible for providing administrative and other support to the SVP for Policy and Political Affairs and the division.

Position Responsibilities:
Manage all administrative support for the Senior Vice President for Policy and Political Affairs and the Director of Strategic Initiatives, including scheduling meetings, travel and appointments.
Work closely with the Senior Vice President for Policy and Political Affairs and the Director of Strategic Initiatives on the annual budgets for the Policy and Political Affairs Division. This includes compiling monthly financial reports, monitoring division spending, and processing payments.

Train and provide support for the assistants and coordinators in the Policy and Political Affairs Division and assist them in coordinating the department and organization’s priorities.

Work with the PAC Director on political fundraising activities, including tracking political contributions and coordinating with local volunteers on fundraising events for HRC PAC-endorsed candidates.

Work with the Government Affairs team to coordinate lobby day events and other duties as requested by the Senior Vice President for Policy and Political Affairs.

Provide support for the Public Policy Committee board members through notice of monthly meetings, agendas and minutes; scheduling of monthly conference calls; and maintenance of the committee roster.

Both support and help manage multiple projects across the department, including potential engagement with the planning of electoral and advocacy work in states and federally and other cross-division initiatives.

Assist with HRC Board meeting preparation, including compiling draft Board reports and coordinating presentations and speaking invitations to Board events.

Work with Field, Government Affairs, Legal and PAC coordinators/assistants to recruit, train and manage a team of political interns.

Assist with researching topics in regards to public policy, etc.

Assist Senior Vice President for Policy and Political Affairs and the Director of Strategic Initiatives with other special projects

Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with two to four years of experience as an Executive/Administrative Assistant, scheduler or project manager.

Should have a high level of expertise or the ability to acquire a high level of expertise in Microsoft Office Applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point) and other computer applications such as Google Apps (Gmail, Google Docs and Drive).

Excellent research, writing, editing and oral communications skills.

Ability to adapt to an ever-changing political environment.

Experience with VAN and a familiarity with other standard organizing and advocacy tools a plus.

Must be able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, while prioritizing important issues.

Flexibility with work schedule; this position requires occasional evening and weekend work.

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Must be diligent, with extremely strong attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality and timely work product and processes.

Strong interest in and knowledge of the rapidly changing LGBTQ equality movement.
