SVP, Legal / Associate General Counsel

Comstock is currently seeking a Senior Vice President, Legal / Associate General Counsel for Comstock Holding Companies, Inc. S/he will demonstrate the ability to serve as primary counsel on all mixed-use project related and project finance matters. Project Finance- negotiate and lead the loan closing process for construction and permanent financing with national institutional lenders in coordination with finance team
Development Related Agreements- Negotiate and draft a myriad of mixed-use development related agreements (engineering, architectural, construction) in support of operations team
Acquisitions- Negotiate and draft project related purchase and sale agreements and conduct due diligence review in support of acquisitions team
Organizational Documents- Draft project specific operating agreements and negotiate joint venture and similar agreements with institutional capital partners
Litigation Oversight- Oversee outside counsel in project related litigation matters
Risk Management- Provide support for project related insurance procurement and claims management
Mergers and Acquisitions- Oversee outside counsel and conduct due diligence review of corporate opportunities
SEC Compliance and Employment familiarity a plus
JD Degree required
7-12 years of experience in real estate law
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office/Suite, and any other software program identified as standard
Self-directed and able to work independently, with minimal supervision
Must be customer-focused and results-oriented
Ability to work well in a team establishing good working relationships with others
Exceptional oral and written communication and organizational skills
Must be highly credible and trustworthy, and operate with high degree of integrity
Must hold oneself and others accountable and strive for a high level of excellence
Must have a positive, can-do attitude and be able to fuel growth and innovation
Ability to multi-task and follow through in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment with a strong attention to detail
Ability to effectively present information in a consultative manner and respond to questions from senior level management

Ability to select and supervise outside counsel
