Northrop Grumman Tactical Space Systems is seeking a Guidance, Navigation and Control Manager in our Dulles, Virginia location. This position is defined as a combination of functional management as well as contributor level engineering. The functional management role will include managing a group of 15-20 junior engineers (Associate and Engineer level) in a new Civil and Commercial group within the Eastern Core GNC department. Duties include performance reviews and management, coaching, mentoring, recruiting and hiring for the group.
The contributing engineering role is traditional GNC engineering tasks, including:
- Designing, developing, implementing, verifying and testing algorithms and software and simulation tools to perform guidance, navigation and control of aircraft, spacecraft, submersibles, surface ships, missiles, launch vehicles and upper stages during powered and coast phases of launch, flight, earth orbit, interplanetary cruise and orbital insertion, as well as during staging events.
- Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality.
- Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations to achieve a desired position, orientation or orbit in space.
- Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control laws and hardware and software requirements for aircraft, launch vehicles and/or spacecraft.
5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
Experience with Guidance, Navigation and Control
Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain a clearance following hire
An active Top Secret clearance is a preferred qualification
