Job Requirements
To manage the operating activities of a variety of functional departments within the rendering operations. The Director of Rendering Operations directly oversees all aspects of operations within the rendering plant including raw material transportation, finished goods transportation, production, research and development, maintenance, projects, environmental compliance, hiring selection, safety, and customer relations. Other duties include:
Advise in the hiring, development, and training of personnel, in order to appropriately staff the team and help each individual reach their full potential
Short - term strategic planning that maximizes product mix, product return and competitive performance
Review documentation, analyzing cost yield production, absenteeism, cost, yields, engineering projects, scheduled money spent, capitals (daily, weekly, monthly)
Build and maintain internal/external relationships
Daily Inspection of areas of the plant
Projects – develop and implement capital improvements.
Submit reports and information for the Executive Committee
Reviews and analyzes reports, records, and directives, and confers with managers to obtain data required for planning activities, such as new commitments, status of work in progress, and problems encountered
Evaluates current procedures and practices for accomplishing department objectives to develop and implement improved procedures and practices
Necessary Skills
Typically requires a Bachelor Degree in a related field; equivalent related work experience will be considered in lieu of the education requirement
Requires a minimum of ten years of directly related experience to successfully perform the duties of the job
Ten or more years rendering experience
History of positively motivating and influencing others
Extensive experience in rendering Industry
Strong organizational skills, management skills, Food Engineering skills, planning and communication skills
Understanding of food, poultry and rendering markets
Competitive strengths & weaknesses
Agristats and accounting principles
