Purpose of Position::
The Industrial Electrician is responsible for performing duties related to the installation, alteration, repair, replacement and maintenance of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment. Must meet strict daily and weekly project deadlines. Performs tasks independently or as a team under limited supervision. Reports to Leadman, Foreman, or Superintendent as assigned. “Unqualified” workers and are prohibited from working on energized circuits or equipment or within the limited approach boundary in accordance with the NFPA 70-E current version.

Job Functions:
Daily or Frequently (Essential Functions):
1. Demonstrates safe working procedures and reports unsafe working conditions and practices
2. Ensures property for which he/she has been assigned (tools, materials, equipment, etc.) is secure
3. Carries personal tools, such as on a waist tool belt, which weighs approximately 30 lbs.
4. Wears personal protective equipment when required (such as hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, work boots, respirator, hearing protection, fall protection, cut resistant gloves, etc.)
5. Maintains tools, equipment, supplies and work area in a clean, orderly and safe condition
6. Maintains good housekeeping, which may include, but not limited to sweeping work area using a broom, organizing tools and materials, washing or wiping tools or surfaces clean and keeping area free of debris and tripping hazards
7. Transports tools and materials. This may include walking, climbing and carrying objects up to 50 pounds from one location to another, sometimes up stairs, over gravel, pushing or pulling equipment with or without the assistance of co-worker(s).
8. Bends, stoops, and must regain balance upon standing when installing electrical boxes, pipes, etc. that frequently span from floor to ceiling level
9. Performs lifting, positioning, holding, fastening, drilling, or hammering objects, such as conduit, motors, fixtures, poles, and other objects for installation or removal
10. Pulls wire of all gauges, with or without the assistance of others
11. Uses one and two-handed manual, electrical and battery operated hand tools, such as screwdriver, hammer, saw, wrench, pliers, drill, conduit benders, knockout cutters, wire cutters, wire strippers, wire pullers, etc.

Additional Essential Functions:
12. Measures, cuts, and bends wire and conduit
13. Makes custom bends and cuts to ensure proper placement of conduit
14. Supervises and explains tasks to up to two (2) workers
15. Adheres to and/or completes pre-task planning
16. Organizes, prioritizes, plans, and lays out work and/or aspects of work for self and crew
17. Communicates with coworkers daily by telephone and in person
18. Follows federal, state, and local electrical and building codes when planning and conducting work functions (Should be able to perform all functions of lower E-ratings)

Education, Experience, and/or Prerequisites Required:
1. Must have five (5) or more years of previous electrical experience (industrial)
2. Must possess appropriate state driver’s license if driving company vehicle

3. Must maintain Starr Electric minimum tool list
4. Must be able to arrive and depart to and from the jobsites (mode of transportation)
5. Pass all criminal record and drug testing requirements of the job
6. High School education, High School graduate, or GED or Vocational Background preferred
7. Complete on-the-job training, as required
8. Must have the ability to read and write (English) to effectively communicate
