HOURS: 40 Hours Per Week / Monday – Friday
After Hours, Weekends or 24 Hours On-Call As Required.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field is desired. A minimum of 10 years of IT work experience in Infrastructure/Sever/Storage Environments performing planning, architecture design (hardware and software) and optimization is required.
JOB SKILLS: The successful candidate possesses the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; comfortable making decisions, recommending alternative approaches, identifying and resolving conflict. Excellent organization and analytical skills required. Must be flexible and willing to adapt to changes and have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other department/agencies and the public. Must be able to work on projects/issues of high complexity that require in-depth knowledge across multiple technical areas and business segments.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides expert technical leadership for all aspects of server and storage infrastructure in both a physical and virtual environment. Responsible for overall architecture of server and storage design, optimization, compliance and security. Leads cross departmental effort to develop and communicate architecture guiding principles. Works with application teams to develop and execute work intake review process and standard documentation across services. Works closely with the business to leverage current and emerging technologies to satisfy business requirements and develop technical solutions. Liaises with enterprise, network and application architects to ensure alignment across technology platforms. Assists in scoping, costing,implementation and communication of major server initiatives. Recommends, utilizes and monitors server/storage management and capacity planning tools to ensure a secure and robust server infrastructure that meets performance and availability goals. Configures and maintains server and storage systems including physical, virtual, Windows, Unix/Linux and storage. Provides the highest level troubleshooting expertise and develops best practice documentation, procedures and automation to ensure continuous improvement and server/storage optimization. Works more than forty hours during the workweek, weekends or 24 hours On-Call when special projects or deadlines need to be met. Performs other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to lift at least 20 lbs. and/or move boxes and equipment as needed.Subject to kneeling, crouching, handling, climbing, walking, sitting, twisting and reaching are needed to perform the essential functions.
