Full Job Description
Assists members in selecting safe wellness goals. Instructs and educates participants about useful and safe exercises that help them achieve these goals. Creates programs that support wellness goals of participants and changes the programs as goals are reached or changed. Also, is up to date with fitness assessments and body composition analysis. Identifies health and safety concerns and unsafe work practices within the workplace. Is involved in developing safe work practices and is held accountable for the day to day efforts of ensuring a safe workplace by following safe work practices. Actively is involved in virtually every aspect of the wellness center i.e. maintaining and cleaning equipment, membership sales, marketing, data entry, various projects and other duties as assigned.
Responsible for the orientation and training appointments of HealthWorks Members and modifying workouts as needed.
Responsible for planning and instructing group fitness classes in a safe and effective manner as assigned.
Provides knowledge to participants regarding modified techniques and other individual adaptations.
Completing orientations and fitness assessments in a thorough and timely manner .
Responsible for observing unsafe or ineffective techniques and resolving the situation.
Updating members on new fitness information (i.e. boards, handouts).
Maintain, inspect, and clean all fitness equipment during each shift or as designated by Leader.
Acknowledge all members upon entering and exiting workout area with a greeting and smile. Accommodate members requests when able (i.e. changing TV stations or CD’s, assist with loosening knobs on equipment).
Reporting for work in a timely manner and performing opening/closing duties (i.e. locking/unlocking doors and elevator, cash box secured, equipment on/off, member personal information secured).
Perform light maintenance tasks on fitness equipment (i.e. adjusting belts on treadmill, lubricate equipment).
Responsible for all paperwork and administrative duties as assigned (i.e. time sheets, applications, payment receipts, membership folders).
Four year degree with a focus in a related field is required. Additional fitness certifications from nationally recognized certifying agencies is preferred. Prior experience working as a fitness professional is required. BLS upon hire and maintained throughout employment. Conducts self in a professional manner with superiors and peers. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills required. Continuing education in wellness from reputable and recognized sources is a must.
