FiveStar Gourmet Foods is currently looking for a well experienced Vice President of Procurement for our Ontario Location. Under the supervision of the SVP of Operations. As the Vice President of Procurement you will create and execute the sourcing strategy including integrating and onboarding sourcing for all deals and new customers. This person will create a structured supplier agreement that will then be used across all suppliers. They will own and drive the material cost savings program, and ensure all budgeted savings are achieved. They will work on evaluating capabilities and opportunities for corporate development opportunities, then delivering those value capture projects. They also own delivering a continuous vertical integration evaluation program that allows us to develop capabilities needed to insource where we can add the most value. This leader will drive value and deliver results in support of cost savings and operational efficiencies as well as supplier quality and performance. This person will hire and develop a team of leaders, category managers, and functional experts to achieve these objectives
ESSENTIAL DUTIES Job Tasks/Duties (not all inclusive):
- Negotiate with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantees.
- Establish purchasing policies and ensure compliance to all purchasing and price policies.
- Look at demand and on hand stock and order materials needed for production.
- Develop new supply sources to ensure material availability.
- Negotiate blanket purchase orders when appropriate and closely monitor contract costs.
- Work closely with receiving department to ensure proper supplies arrive when needed.
- Review and approve Purchase Orders and trace any delinquent arrivals.
- Collaborate with executive team to ensure accurate forecasting and inventory planning.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase material yields.
- Ensure performance and production process improvement plans are developed by working with the R&D team to secure the best materials for optimum product quality.
- Manage material flow to insure inventory is maintained to the optimum level to support on time customer deliveries while keeping inventory holdings at the appropriate levels.
- Manage and direct all aspects of Purchasing (sourcing, negotiating, vendor approval, market trends/conditions, etc.)
- Manage materials savings initiatives in line with profit plan and overall business objectives.
- Establish and maintain chain of command for all purchase requisitions, paperwork, and receiving documentation.
- Create material requirements and daily materials inventories.
- Maintain accurate daily inventory counts.
- Work with R&D team on sourcing new raw material or packaging, getting samples of raw material or packaging, and getting other information (specs, Nutritional and CN equivalent meal contribution, etc.).
- Work with QA on quality issues, specification, nutritional, contribution information, and discuss concerns with suppliers.
QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor Degree in a business related area.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in materials management and purchasing, preferably in a Food Manufacturing field.
- Work experience with inventory planning, forecasting techniques, operation systems and warehouse management.
- Strong organizational and leadership skills.
- Strong, logical decision-making skills.
- Must have strong negotiating skills.
- Establish and maintain effective work relationships quickly at all levels within the organization and with external contacts to foster trust and credibility while achieving key operating objectives.
- Inquisitive, detail-oriented with strong quantitative analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem solving.
- Exhibit sense of ownership and accountability
- Must be able to efficiently manage time and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
- Very Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point), MRP/ERP.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
