We are looking for a graduate student to work as a Government Affairs Intern for Arm! This is an exciting opportunity to work on several projects in the Washington, DC area, primarily related to the US federal government. You will have exposure to US federal public policy making, Congressional offices, the legislative process, how Washington works, and a good pool of contacts (or know how to develop them) to help get started on developing a public policy network. You should have a keen interest in government affairs, including development, implementation and enforcement of government policies. In particular, some familiarity with, and interest in, technology policy (IoT, AI, privacy, cybersecurity, mobility/spectrum, autonomous vehicles, etc.) is helpful. Prior experience with federal public policy making is required, with prior government internship experience strongly preferred (please elaborate on experience in your cover letter).
You will be involved in a variety of projects during the internship based on the needs of the company and government affairs team, of which may include:
Monitoring the development and implementation of U.S. and potentially state government policies of interests to Arm and its business;
Attending meetings with government officials;
Attending and preparing reports on external events relating to Arm policy objectives and business activities, including legislative and federal agency hearings, trade association meetings, think tank events, and industry conferences;
Summarizing, analyzing, and drafting responses to various government consultations;
Assisting with the preparation of briefing material to support meetings the company’s senior executives; and,
Researching and drafting a government consultant handbook that would outline policies, solutions, approaches, contacts, and required documents when approaching government entities. The handbook would then be used to provide a quick way to bring future employees up to speed.
Currently enrolled in a graduate program (Master's or Doctorate) at an accredited college or university. Individuals pursuing an advanced degree in business, law, public relations, public policy, communications, political science, or related field are preferred;
You have a strong desire to learn about the U.S. Federal government and a genuine passion for public policy, technology policy, and politics;
Outstanding written and verbal communications skills and proficient at networking and getting to know new people;
Strong office computer skills in the areas of word processing, researching, database creation, etc. and
The internship length is available for up to six months but is negotiable.
