Maron Marvel has an immediate opening for a legal assistant to join its Chicago office.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Providing support for two or more attorneys.

Drafting, finalizing and e-filing pleadings in federal and state court.

Coordinating lawyers' calendar and litigation case docket.

Opening new matters.

Creating, editing, and proofreading letters, legal documents, and memos, including checking documents for content and context.

Organizing and maintaining all correspondence and documents using the relevant document management system.

Managing emails, calendar appointments, and client contact lists.

Scheduling meetings and coordinating all logistics.

Managing physical and electronic files, including intake, retention, retrieval, and transfer of records.

Importing electronic documents, including scanning documents into the document management system.

Coordinating entering, editing, and tracking daily time recording when required for assigned timekeepers.

Preparing check requests and expense reports.

Assisting other legal assistants with overflow work and providing backup support during periods of annual or personal leave.

Assisting with new hire onboarding.
Qualifications:

High School diploma or its equivalent required, or Certificate or Degree from a Business School is preferred.

Requires 3 to 5 years of legal secretarial, executive secretarial or secretarial administrative assistant experience, preferably with a large sized law or professional firm.

Strong knowledge of court rules and litigation procedures.

In depth knowledge of legal documents and terminology.

Excellent time-management and organizational skills.

Strong secretarial skills including typing, proofreading, spelling, grammar, and math.

Ability to organize and prioritize workload and use own judgment in decision making on how to adequately and efficiently meet all deadlines.

Ability to take the initiative in handling projects and anticipating what needs to be done.
