Senior Manager, Business Analyst

This Business Analyst will work in partnership with Business Partners supporting the Global Product Development organization to deliver key Business Technology solutions. The Business Analyst is responsible for understanding, elaborating, and communicating requirements to ensure technology solutions and strategy initiatives meet the needs of its intended audience.


This role will direct colleague and contract BAs to:
Establish relationships with customers and members of the project team and liaises between the business and technical members of the project team, ensuring that the project team understands the customer needs
Utilize specific techniques to elicit requirements from stakeholders, analyzes, organizes, documents, and validates the resulting requirements, and communicates and secures agreement on the requirements across stakeholders
Build, validate and update diagrams, models and other artifacts to describe business processes, conceptual information models , organizational structure, business area context and/or system requirements
Establish the requirements baseline and traces requirements throughout the project lifecycle
Manage change in requirements over the project lifecycle
Provide input on design to ensure that the design meets the requirements
Support the development of the testing plan and scripts, supports the execution of UAT testing and ensures that all requirements are met in the final solution
Plan and communicate the requirements management approach and change management plan to be used for the project. Provide input to the project work breakdown structure and the overall project plan
Identify areas of risk due to requirements and surface to the project manager
Partner with the project manager to assess the impact of changes in requirements on the project scope and timelines
Define BA staffing profile for vendor contracted BA resources
Oversee vendor contracted resources and/or provide coaching to more junior BAs

In partnership with Domain Lead, this role will:
Contribute to pre-project business case development
Contribute to strategic planning
Act as an advocate for customers while simultaneously identifying areas like business process that need to be changed within the business to ensure project success

In partnership with other Senior BAs and BA Sponsor will:
Set direction for BA Discipline within R&D BT
Advance emerging trends and techniques within the BA discipline
Lead the BA Community of Practice

Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a scientific discipline or computer science

Prior Experience:
6-10 years’ experience in project level business analysis using standard requirements business analysis techniques including brainstorming, interviewing, requirements sessions, activity diagrams, process modeling, conceptual data modeling, use case and wireframes desired
3-5 years’ experience in program level business analysis leadership
Familiarity with systems life cycles and organizational change management desired
Relevant experience in Information Technology in the context of the pharmaceutical industry preferred
IIBA Business Analysis certification preferred

Coaching, mentoring, and managing junior resources

The Preferred Candidate will also have some of the following:
Knowledge and experience in the Clinical Domain of Health Sciences; hands on experience working with Clinical Data
Scientific knowledge

Experience in the Artificial Intelligence continuum:
Knowledge of Machine Learning/AI in real-world settings with large scale data
Knowledge of scripting and analytics software, such as R, Python, Pipeline Pilot, KNIME or equivalent.
An understanding of deep learning and a range of machine learning methods (e.g. boosting, Random Forests) kernel methods (e.g. SVM), (non-linear) dimensionality reduction and feature selection methods are desired
Knowledge of Bayesian methods and Natural Language Processing
Knowledge of machine learning packages, including deep learning toolkits (e.g. TensorFlow, mxNet, Theano or others).
Knowledge of big data management tools, such as Hadoop, NoSQL data stores as well more traditional relational database SQL

Must be able to work on laptop/desktop computer for long periods of time

Minimal project travel may be required
