Employment Status: Permanent / Probationary & Temporary "non-exempt" positions (with the possibility of the full-time positions converting to probationary)

Deadline: A pool of qualified candidates will be established for current and future vacancies. Qualified applicants will be kept active from December 21, 2018 through June 28, 2019.
The incumbent will perform a full range of dispatch duties on rotating shifts. The incumbent will receive information, complaints, requests and signals from a variety of communication equipment. The incumbent will evaluate information received, determine a proper course of action, and disseminate information. The incumbent will handle police, parking and other types of radio traffic, maintain all information in a computer aided dispatch system and perform other duties as assigned.
Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants must possess one year of verifiable experience using a switchboard and two-way radio communication system in a law enforcement or comparable agency. Candidates must pass a Cooperative Personnel Services Dispatcher Test unless they possess a P.O.S.T. Dispatcher certificate. Applicants must have the ability to quickly and calmly, while exercising good judgment in emergency situations, follow oral and written procedures, rules of the FCC and 10-Code. Applicants must have the ability to work with a diverse group of people.
P.O.S.T. approved and certified candidates are desired.
A background check to include fingerprinting is required prior to employment along with a medical and psychological examination.
The successful candidate must meet P.O.S.T. requirements.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position.
The person holding this position may be considered a limited or general mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.
