This position will report to the Pfizer Digital Director for Laboratory Operations Solutions Development and will be responsible for partnering with the gLIMS Team Lead in leading development of the gLIMS core solution. This individual plays a critical role in ensuring the appropriate software is selected and used to develop solutions to support Laboratory Operations Laboratory Information Management functions. They will partner with the gLIMS Team Lead, business, solution owners, compliance, validation and deployment leads for the successful development, verification and delivery of the systems.

They will oversee the development phase of the software development lifecycle including Unit Testing and Functional Specification Management. They will work closely with the LIMS Application Manager and BTI in keeping the hardware and software in a controlled state and up to date with Pfizer and vendor standards. They will work closely with the LIMS Master Data Architect in maintaining an accurate and up to date core data model. They will work closely with the Empower Team Lead, SAP Solutions and PGSDW Team to maintain the validated and working state of these critical interfaces.


Functioning as a Solution Development Lead for the LIMS core solution:
Develop a clear understanding of the business requirements\processes to translate into system design and recommend technical path forward including resources and timeline needed to develop solution
Leads/participates Agile/Sprint team
Perform development, configuration, and/or administration of the application
Provide guidance and technical direction on development standards and best practices
Oversee contractors performing the development and configuration
Maintains the LIMS development standards
Maintains System interfaces to LIMS including SAP, Empower and PGSDW.
Attends/participates in internal/external audits
Authors/approves application change control
Authors/Approves Functional Requirements
Authors/Approves Technical Design Specification
Manage the software development life cycle (SDLC) of solutions to meet business requirements within approved scope and budget
Measure and ensure success by developing validated core solutions that meet business requirements within agreed quality and schedule goals
Providing input into the leadership level reporting on development objectives and status
Participating in functional meetings and operational sessions including PMO, Integration, Strategy, Business Process and Deployment meetings
Partnering with Shared Services organizations to ensure solution environment(s) are sized, set up and monitored for optimal performance
Applying forward thinking analysis on the solution design and look for opportunities to improve system functionality and performance
Participating in partnering and problem-solving discussions between key stakeholders
Nurturing and maintaining collaborative working relationships across Pfizer
Participate in Business and BT governance
Serving as a point of escalation for solution development and performance including working with BTAMS to resolve operational issues
Participate with leadership in the development of solution strategies to support business process and continuous improvements
Working as a liaison among business and solution owner in order to design, develop, validate and improve solutions to meet business needs and changes to processes
Providing strong solution development skills to meet complex business needs with aggressive objectives
Provides support for critical changes of legacy LIMS solutions.


A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or similar field is required.
Strong IT systems background and 7+ years of relevant experience developing/delivering software on multi-tier platforms to globally support business areas such as Quality Operations is required.
Intermediate to Expert knowledge of LIMS as a developer and/or administrator
Proficient to Intermediate knowledge of Oracle tools and SQL
Proficient to Intermediate knowledge of HP ALM
Experience with Agile Scrum development process
Intermediate knowledge of multi-tier infrastructure environments

Strong business analysis skills
Strong problem solving skills
Intermediate to Expert knowledge of LabWare LIMS V5/6/7
Proficient in HP Service Center, QTS and PDOCS
Knowledge of Laboratories and Analytical technologies is an asset.
Technical knowledge of Labware LIMS Empower Interface
Knowledge of Windows and Citrix
Sunshine Act
