The Staff Accountant will participate in various aspects of the financial cycle which may include, but are not limited to, journal entries, account reconciliations, maintaining sub-ledgers, monitoring and reporting on key metrics, researching transactions and assisting the Senior Accountant and Director of Finance with various as needed projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare and enter journal entries as needed.
Perform account reconciliations per reconciliation schedule, including analyzing transactions and making necessary adjusting entries to ensure the accuracy of HealthPoint’s balance sheet.
Maintain fixed asset sub-ledger including analyzing monthly depreciation for accuracy, tracking and reporting on major capital projects, preparing fixed asset roll forward quarterly, and preparing fixed asset status reports monthly for inclusion in the financial package.
Participate in the full cycle of cash management at HealthPoint including recording cash deposits, reporting on cash balances, developing efficient processes and communication with site staff and Patient Accounts to ensure cash is handled according to US GAAP and with adequate controls to safeguard HealthPoint assets.
Cross train with other members of the finance team in order to back up or the team when necessary.
Review and analyze various transactions and financial statements in order to report on variances.
Produce and distribute routine financial reports as assigned.
Research and report on accounting transactions.
Maintain finance files to include but not limited to cash receipts, general ledger, leases and contracts.
Support Senior Accountant and Director of Finance during Month End process by entering journal entries to SAGE and preparing back up documentation for standard journal entries.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in accounting from a four-year college or university.
Intermediate level ability with Excel, Outlook and other required software programs.
Ability to read and interpret technical and other complex documents.
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
