About the Position: Position(s) will be filled under the Department of the Army Pathways Recent Graduates Program. Click here for more information on Pathways program participation. After Program completion, Department of the Army Recent Graduates MAY be converted to a permanent position or to a term position (a project-based term of employment lasting between one and four years).
This is a Natural Resources Specialist (Ranger) position with USACE, Fort Worth District, located in Dawson, TX.
Implement resource management actions that promote biodiversity, native species re-establishment, and protection of threatened/endangered species.
Participate in natural resources programs that foster the protection, enhancement, and utilization of fish and wildlife populations and natural and cultural resources.
Implement recreation fee programs to include collections, remittance and safeguarding of fees for campgrounds.
Resolve problems associated with visitor assistance management to ensure public safety and security.
Organize presentations on safety, ecology and environmental issues to promote support for conservation practices and park programs/facilities.
Occasional travel - Travel for Business (TDY) is required 5% of the time

Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. Short-term training programs (e.g. several two-week programs completed) are not considered an academic course of study.
Preference eligible veterans who were precluded from applying due to their military service obligation begin their two-year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty. Eligibility for these veterans cannot exceed six years after degree or certificate completion
Applicants will be selected at the GS-05. The target grade of this position is GS-09.

Be a U.S. Citizen
Successfully complete all the requirements of the Recent Graduate Program as defined in the Agency Participant Agreement.
Demonstrate successful job performance.
Meet the Office of Personnel Management qualification standard including any applicable positive education requirements and/or selection placement factors and any other designated special qualifications requirements and conditions of employment (e.g. medical standards) appropriate for the position to which being converted.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Basic Requirement for Natural Resources Specialist (Ranger):
A. Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

This is a Career Program (CP) -16 - Engineers and Scientists position.
Recent Graduates must sign a Participant Agreement with the Agency.
This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.
Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.

Ideal: This category will be used for those candidates who meet a grade point average between 3.25 - 4.0 range, have a major in Natural Resources Management and have related work experience.
Eligible: This category will be used for those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
