Provide reference and circulation services to students, faculty, staff and community patrons; manage patron accounts including patron account holds and fine processes; offer library instruction sessions and activities; manage interlibrary loan processes; participate in professional development and campus and/or college committees and activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Manassas Campus Librarians and the Dean, provide reference and circulation services to students, faculty, staff and community patrons in a multicultural team environment. Responsibilities include managing patron holds and library fines and fees, creating and executing library instruction sessions and managing interlibrary loan processes.
Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts or related field.
Library experience, especially in acquisition, circulation and/or reference service. OR
equivalent applicable experience or training.
at least 18 credit hours of completed coursework in an ALA accredited MLS or MLIS program.
Teaching or instruction related experience.
training or experience in LibGuides and other Springshare products;
familiarity and/or experience with current/emerging library technologies; familiarity and/or experience with OCLC Worldshare and Interlibrary Loan procedures;
familiarity and/or experience with Alma Library Services Platform.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of library procedures and online library systems and databases; demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service; strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and projects, interpret and follow complex policies and procedures. Knowledge and experience with MS Office or similar office productivity software. Significant relevant library and/or customer service experience. Demonstrated ability to speak in front of groups. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and reach library shelving.
