Engineering Data Systems Developer
As an Engineering Data Systems Engineer at MACOM, you will report to the Director of EDS/MES/FIS at MACOM’s headquarters in Lowell, Massachusetts. You will be part of a team responsible for building and supporting an Engineering Data Systems (EDS) function. You will collaborate with Test Engineering, Yield Engineering and Process Engineering and manufacturing operations to define and develop data analysis/reporting tools. You will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying and supporting a database schema capable of meeting the needs of the organization for years to come. Your skills and knowledge related to database architectures, SQL, web programming, project management and how engineers process information to solve problems and make decisions will be key to your success, as will your attention to detail and your passion for excellence.
Collaborate with Test Engineering, Yield Engineering and Process Engineering to define a variety of data analysis/reporting tools. Then develop, deploy and support the desired set of tools.
Integrate legacy MACOM data tools/systems with cross-functional Engineering Data Systems, the Manufacturing Execution System, the Engineering Document System, the Enterprise Resource
Planning System, Vendor Systems, and Customer Systems.
Assist other engineering disciplines by developing data analysis algorithms designed to detect failure mode signatures and identify possible root cause mechanism families.
Ensure data systems’ high reliability through prediction, prevention, detection, and protection.
Respond to and support database “crash events”, applying backup/rebuilding/redundancy strategies.
Establish, document and comply with hardware and software configuration standards, including the database schema, programming conventions, version control and revision tracking.
Implement robust monitoring systems and methodologies capable of quickly detecting and correcting abnormal system conditions or performance before it impacts users or other systems.
Manage and own the delivery of the solutions following agile methodologies
Follows up on delivered projects to validate its effectiveness and enhancements needs
BS in EE, CS or other technical discipline and at a minimum an internship developing databases and programming data analysis/reporting tools to support engineers.
7 + years of DevOps, application development, project management experience
Practical domain expertise around areas such as DevOps, ETL, Big Data, Application
Able to articulate and logically communicate concepts with technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience with working with offshore development teams a plus.
Detail oriented with strong fundamentals in disciplined programming methodologies.
Advanced knowledge and practical experience with statistical analysis and modelling (R,Matlab) required
Advanced knowledge and practical experience with database design and open source software (e.g. Linux, Apache, MySQL, Java Script, Perl, Python, graphic libraries) and web programming.
Advanced knowledge & practical experience with Linux or MS Windows Server.
Advanced knowledge & practical experience with MySQL or MS SQL Server.
Excellent verbal and written “360 degree” communication skills.
Initiative to address and appropriately escalate problems to achieve rapid resolution.
U.S. citizenship and the ability to travel within the U.S. and internationally occasionally.
