Evy’s Tree is a fast-growing, startup, fashion e-commerce company that designs, markets and sells high-end hoodies and other apparel items. Located in beautiful Sonoma County, Evy’s Tree work culture is best known for flexible schedules, creative and enjoyable work setting, competitive pay, and clothing discounts.

We are seeking a part time controller {20-25 hours a week} who is detail-oriented and can work in an evolving, start-up environment. This person will manage all our cash flow, accounts payables and factory payments for Evy’s Tree, working closely with the owner and our production team to keep financial communication open with our vendors. The Controller will also be responsible for the bookkeeping for the company, keeping us up to date with QuickBooks journal entries, end of the month reporting and payroll. The Controller is essential to the financial success of our company and should excel in strong communication, creative financial planning, and orderliness. The role will report to the CEO of Evy’s Tree.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with accounting and bookkeeping in a company that is heavy with account payables and vendor communication. Strong written and verbal skills are required and flexibility in both spirit and plans are a must. Evy’s Tree is an online store, so experience with eCommerce is preferred; understanding of technology, Microsoft office, and google suite is necessary. This role will be essential to the future success of Evy’s Tree and will be responsible for the stability of the company. The candidate will also be comfortable working in a startup environment with the ability to pivot quickly, be creative and execute strategic initiatives.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the owner(s), this position is primarily responsible for carrying out the following:

  • Partner with owners on cash flow management
  • Ensure all relevant data is captured each month through reconciliations and analysis of systems that generate the data.
  • Post monthly journal entries and accounting transactions.
  • Generate monthly financial statements
  • Process bi-monthly payroll
  • Accounts payable
  • Communicate with factories and vendors on payment terms and payables
  • Control financial plans and cash flow accordingly
  • Assist production team with production financial needs
  • Assist Sales and Marketing team with financial plans needed to be executed
  • Other functions and project-related work as needed
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS

The ideal candidate possesses:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience managing the finance/accounting function of a small business.
  • Expertise in Accounting-related software, specifically and QuickBooks.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office & Google Business Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and business intelligence tools.
  • Detail-oriented paired with solid technology, analytical and management skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with an ability to communicate with vendors accordingly.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Proven self-starter with the ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
