Overview:
The Hawaii Convention Center, renowned for its exceptional events and culinary services, is currently seeking a Kitchen Helper to support our kitchen operations. This role is integral to our team, providing essential assistance to our chefs and cooks in preparing and serving a variety of dishes to our guests. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, have a positive attitude, and demonstrate a strong commitment to cleanliness and efficiency in the kitchen.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in Food Preparation: Support the culinary team by performing basic food preparation tasks such as washing, peeling, cutting, and portioning ingredients.
- Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure the kitchen, storage areas, and workstations are clean and organized, adhering to health and sanitation regulations.
- Equipment and Utensil Maintenance: Clean and maintain kitchen equipment and utensils, ensuring they are stored properly and ready for use.
- Waste Management: Assist in managing kitchen waste and recycling according to the convention center’s environmental policies.
- Inventory Support: Help receive and organize kitchen supplies and food deliveries, checking for quality and accuracy.
- Compliance: Follow all safety, sanitation, and food handling procedures as per regulatory guidelines and the convention center’s standards.
- Team Support: Collaborate effectively with the kitchen team, contributing to a positive and efficient working environment.
Qualifications:
- No previous kitchen experience required, but a willingness to learn and follow instructions is essential.
- Basic understanding of hygiene and safety regulations in a kitchen environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Good physical condition, able to stand for long periods, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
- Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by event schedules.
