Position Summary
Maintain the institutions Ellucian Colleague ERP system by providing best practice preventive maintenance and management. Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the process. Writes code for database access, modifications, constructions, and backups. Relies on knowledge and professional discretion to achieve goals. Supports the design, development, and modification of custom applications and programs that support the client business services and processes. Works on identified projects and assignments, reports to a site director, utilizes professional judgment and ingenuity.

Supports all client SQL databases related to Ellucian applications: Colleague, portal, self-service, data extracts, patches and upgrades, and CRM based products.

Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in computer science or related field is preferable (equivalent combination of experience, education, and training will be considered)
Ten (10) years of DBA experience.
Minimum five (5) years' experience in higher education.
5+ years of relevant database administration experience with SQL Server databases (2008, 2012, or newer)
Industry certifications such as MCSE, MCDBA, MCSA, or others
Experience with ERP software, Extract Transform Load - ETL, and data integrations
Experience maintaining SharePoint environments (security, databases, sites)
Experience with database design, T-SQL, maintenance, and performance tuning
Demonstrated experience with other SQL server packages (SSIS, SSRS)
Experience with data modeling concepts (Relational and dimensional

Experience with patching and upgrading all components of Colleague across all instances

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.
Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
Apply data modeling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts meet integration and performance expectations
Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes
Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement.
Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.
Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.
Creating indexes and maintaining them
Finding and resolving DB integrity issues
Sizing new and replacement database servers
Install new databases, perform upgrades, and patch databases as needed.
Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross training to other peers and team members.
Maintain familiarity with new technology standards and how each may be applied to the future growth and development of the services provided by the Ellucian Colleague database system.
Participate in project design and project planning processes as needed.
Develop and support backup and recovery procedures.
Maintain, and update issue/solution documentation in a project tracking system.
