Job Summary
Performs a variety of cross-functional duties including intravenous (IV) catheter insertions, specimencollection, computer entry, and patient greeting and escort in a patient-focused department.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Training
High school graduation or equivalent.

Experience
3 years related experience.

License/Certification/Registration
CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification by the Maryland Board of Nursing. CPRcertification required. Phlebotomy certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Venipuncture competency. Verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills preferred.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Completes paperwork; ensures accurate chart notes, logs, and statistical records.
Conducts data entry.
Conducts EKG testing.
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
Greets and escorts patients.
Inventories supplies. Restocks carts/rooms and reorders supplies as needed.
May participate in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.
Performs intravenous catheter insertions, changes of IV sites and dressings, and routine inspection of sites.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Performs routine blood drawing functions.
Recognizes quality control problems; takes appropriate steps to correct and report them.
