JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for follow through of specific treatment programs within the scope of physical therapist assistant practice, as supervised by the evaluating physical therapist and prescribed by the attending physician and based on the diagnosis, history, experience, and goals of the client. Provides at least general/indirect supervision to Physical therapy assistants and aides (as outlined in the state practice based on experience), and Qualified PTA students.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Associate’s Degree from an accredited university; with certification or registered with the State PT Board and current Licensure based in the State(s) of practice.
Prior Work Experience:
- One to two years previous experience in a hospital/outpatient setting preferred.
Skills:
- Must have good oral and written communication skills, as well as clear, distinct dictation skills.
- Must be competent in performing Physical Therapy treatments, and operating necessary equipment. Must have strong customer service and organizational skills, and be computer literate.
Independent Judgment:
- Sound judgment and common sense are necessary to accurately assess patients’ performance areas and components, determine appropriate intervention strategies and discharges.
- Must be able to work independently with clients and with members of the interdisciplinary team.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in a well-lit, busy environment, with multiple individuals working at one time. Work may prove to be stressful at times.
- Possibility of exposure to blood borne pathogens and infectious materials.
