JOB SUMMARY

The Regional Director of Innovation (RDI) is responsible for executing pricing, marketing and lead selling for a subset of emerging brands in The Wine Group’s (TWG) portfolio. Collaborating with wholesalers, Division Managers and Area Managers on pricing and programming to achieve volume and distribution goals is a key component of the position as is working with Trade Development leads and On Premise Regional Account Managers to drive KPIs across all selling channels (Chain Grocery, Independent Liquor Outlets and On Premise Accounts). This role also entails lead selling to a specific collection of accounts (on and off) in efforts to grow the overall regional business. All job functions are under the direction of the Regional Vice President of Sales.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Lead and inspire TWG Field Sales and wholesaler network to prioritize and attain monthly and annual goals for TWG’s Innovation Portfolio
Be the subject matter expert for TWG’s Innovation Portfolio in specified geography, sharing knowledge with TWG Field Sales and wholesaler network of the following brand specific information: viticulture and enology practices used, marketing program elements, pricing and sales fundamentals, brand positioning and brand equity expectations
Develop and manage relationships with key wholesaler management (VP Sales, Area Managers, VP Trade Development) adding value to their business and share of mind to TWG’s portfolio
Work with Trade Development teams at both TWG and wholesalers to ensure new item distribution and sales planner inclusion for TWG Innovation Portfolio
Collaborate with TWG Marketing Department and The RDI Team to ensure that marketing plans are effective and executable and own the communication of those plans to the TWG Field Sales, Trade Development and On Premise Regional Account Teams as well as TWG wholesalers in the defined geographical region
Sales leadership calling on 10+ regional chain accounts to drive programming and distribution of the TWG portfolio.
OTHER FUNCTIONS

Introduce creative sales execution concepts, share across state lines/regions, and aspire to be a thought leader in best practices within the region
Schedule and lead effective distributor sales meetings including: planning meetings, programming recaps, general sales meetings
Attend (and in some cases plan and recap) TWG Market Blitzes with attendees to include TWG personnel and wholesaler personnel
Develop relationships with key buyers in the market across all classes of trade
Run and analyze data reports including syndicated data (Nielsen), IDig and wholesaler generated reports
Initiate, develop and execute localized Trade Marketing programs utilizing TWG’s Trade Marketing Department and/or resources
Collaborate with Area Managers and Division Managers on the following for TWG’s Innovation Portfolio:
Development and implementation of Annual Operating Plan which includes: financial objectives, volume (shipments and depletions) objectives and distributor volume and distribution objectives for each market
Management of annual volume and distribution goals for all trade channels
Focus month brand planning and goal management
Quarterly Business Reviews
Monthly Estimate/Annual Estimate tracking as part of the wholesaler scorecarding process
Other miscellaneous reporting/tracking requests from management
Manage annual Travel and Entertainment (T&E) Budget and submit any relevant T&E expenses on a weekly basis
Ensure all sales practices are compliant with state and company policies

QUALIFICATIONS

BA degree or equivalent experience & proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite
Seven or more years of sales experience in the alcoholic beverage industry or related business with knowledge and passion for both commercial and premium wines preferred
Must have strong understanding and working knowledge of alcoholic beverage industry retail environment
Intermediate wine knowledge or associated certifications preferred
Must be adaptive to change within organization and industry
Results oriented, innovation focused, strong problem solving and negotiation skills
Ability to work and succeed in dynamic entrepreneurial environment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Willing to travel with overnight stays as needed
Display integrity, character and strong leadership skills
