As a Data Science Intern, you will work with our data scientists to explore, analyze, and prepare data; develop analytical models; and present results and recommendations to our leadership and stakeholders.

Your Role:
Assist in building the Vehicle Equity Position data module in VMA
Working with data scientists in VMA team to
Gather and validate MSRP data for each vehicle YMMS
Convert aggregated wholesale indexes as % of MSRP
Extract the “Contract Residuals” for each YMMS from AIS incentive data
Comparing the actual wholesale and contract residuals to get Equity position for each YMMS
Assist in equity data validation and discovery analyses using the data
Develop a “Risk and Opportunity” analyzing framework and presentation template for OEMs or large portfolio clients. Vehicle Market Analytics (VMA) is a large data package encompassing large amount of pricing, supply and demand of wholesale and retail market data. We would like to establish a data analyzing framework using VMA for OEM clients or large portfolio clients to be able to quickly find any risk and opportunity areas periodically to drive the product adoption and increasing consultative capability to clients from Cox automotive.

Qualifications:Skills & Experience (minimum):
Completed 2 years of college and is a rising junior or senior.
5 -7 years of experience
Strong problem-solving skills
A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
Ability to apply descriptive and predictive statistics and statistical inference to real-world problems
Ability to present findings clearly and concisely to team members and data science leadership.
Major in Statistics, Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or related quantitative field

What We Look For (preferred):
Students who are Seniors or Graduate level
Familiarity with statistical programming, e.g. SAS, R, Python
Experience querying relational databases using SQL
An understanding of standard statistical techniques, i.e., generalized linear models, time series, and forecasting
Familiarity with common supervised and unsupervised ML models, i.e., decision trees, nearest neighbor, and neural nets
Tableau experience
