Responsible for developing predictive models to support Discover’s business partners. Designs and conducts advanced analytics work, utilizing machine learning, big data and other algorithms in AWS Cloud environment. Presents the results of mathematical forecast and data analysis to management or other end users.
Develop SAS and SQL programs to execute financial models and aggregate results in the cloud environment (Amazon Web Services).
Develop approaches and generate forecast on Deposit products for capital planning and liquidity stress test.
Work with the Technology teams to implement the CECL models for Discover Card, Discover Student Loans (DSL), and Discover Personal Loans (DPL) products.
Develop data analyses and reporting capabilities on forecast results. Present results and recommendations to management and process owners.
Coach and guide junior analysts on data analytical tools and modeling concepts.
Researches and leverages state-of-the-art modeling techniques; participates in modeling innovation.
Leverages extensive, deep technical knowledge and leadership skills to drive the development of data-science solutions, and implements data-driven recommendations and outcomes.
Maintains a high level of competency in statistical and analytical principles, tools and techniques, and supports the advancement of the “best-in-class” analytical capabilities to unlock new capabilities and performance, and quickly adapts to modern modeling techniques. Demonstrates knowledge in analytical tools.
At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:
Master’s Degree in Statistics, Math, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or related quantitative field
If we had our say, we’d also look for:
Ph.D. in Math, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or related quantitative field
2+ years of experience in developing data-based analytical solutions, financial service industry, modeling, or related field
Proficiency in SAS and SQL; Experience in data analytics involving a large amount of data
Thought leadership with problem solving and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
Ability to multitask and deliver results under tight timeline
Experience with R or Python
An understanding of statistical modeling
